wasn't that what happened with the 4990 --> V700 model :eek: :)
I hardly expect that epson will introduce a real successor to the V700/V750, the market has become too small to warrent any substantial R&D on improving the current scanners. Probably we have to get...
Hi,
Some tid-bits to add:
- afaik no screen calibration solution supporting linux is available.
- Gimp in linux is only 8-bit, limited colormanagement (if)
- Linux drivers for your printer?...
Chris,
As others already wrote: raid only protects to some levels of harddisk failure without the system/fileserver going down. It does not protect you against errors in OS or application software...
I'm also very pleased about/with the Canon 5100. Here in the Netherlands fairly cheap, price dropped gradually last few weeks to : 1400 euro's. Not as small as an Epson 3800 though...

Ken,
My strategy was to buy a 2nd hand, cheap, simple, mainstream monorail camera. Before spending a lot of money it seemed wise to me to gain some experience with a camera that could be sold off...

Agfa was never Dutch, Agfa-Gevaert was Belgian from day 1. Film/Paper plant is currently located in Germany, Leverkusen (near Cologne). Historians on this list probably can detail much more...
Remove the screw, it's not needed.
Sometimes the ring can't be fastened enough to prevent the lens/shutter from turning when you touch the shutter to set speed, diafragma or cocking it. A few...

I especially like David Plowdon's 'Imprints', why? who cares :-) :-) I just like it.
Rory,
from the technical point of view I simply expose my negatives after taking 1 incident light reading. No spotmetering to determn contrast etc, no push or pull development as I just rely on VC...
Almost three years ago. I had bought a mediumformat camera a few month before and while searching for an enlarger I stumbled over a L1200 durst....which is....capable of 4x5".......

Why don't you give Keith Canham a call? he for shure could give an authorative answer.
Don,
When you look inside the jobo paper drums you will notice the ribs, in fiber paper they tend to make dents in the paper. My experience is, but YMMV, that these dents dissapear after washing...
