Corran the one 'not long after sunrise' is excellent! Everything worked out well in that; lighting, exposure, and development.

Gitzo g1270 always worked really well for me :D.
Fantastic! I honestly didn't expect to come back to this thread with this outcome, really great news.
Shorpy usually just takes photos from the library of congress and slaps their watermark on them. Great photos though.
Looks fantastic as always Harley.

It's no problem! I enjoy the discussions here. Thanks for all the info. I didn't think of the scanner, will have to check that. Though, these marks are pretty much exactly the same as some I got on...
I was using constant agitation because that is what Kodak's procedure calls for so that shouldn't be an issue for me. I usually don't have many photos at once so the BTZS tubes small volume seemed to...
I thought it was simple but my last batch looked quite poor as you can see from my previous thread. Though, these were lab processed and aren't 100% perfect either. Really unfortunate to shoot 4x5...

Yeah that is probably where I'll go next. Thanks for the info.
My own attempts at developing c41 weren't going very well so I decided to send the last batch out again. Am I expecting too much or is there some other issue here? Looks like some form of uneven...
A 16x20 Chamonix and custom mount for a nice external frame backpack.
Thanks. I went out there at about 5am a few weeks ago to take some photos because it's a beautiful area. Then I went in to play a round of golf afterwards. I told the guy I was the one out on the...

A btzs tube is cheap and works really well. Definitely do not need the full set. Used HP Combiplan works too.
Don't want to start a thread for this. I started trying palladium prints again and forgot I was using my last piece of Arches Platine. The image looked so much better than my Kallitypes, very smooth....

For Platinum and Kallitypes I've pretty much always double coated with a brush. I would get much better blacks where before it could look a tad spotty. I would put my first coat on one piece of paper...
I use a Gitzo 320 studex that I got for $129 on Ebay. It is aluminum and very sturdy. I've used a Calumet C1 extended way out with a heavy lens on it and it performed great. 4x5 is a piece of cake.
Wow Harley, another great photo. That one has great separation of the elements.
Well I went out and got distilled water and was remixing my chemicals and noticed small black debris in the bottom of the fixer bottle, some caked on some floating. I had let the last batch of mixed...
Thanks for the comments and ideas on what it might be. I've been using the same tap water since I started developing a few years ago. Al, you may be on to something. I think my hands might have been...
4x5. BTZS tube.
I just scanned in this Portra 400 negative. Developed with the Rollei Digibase c-41 kit and fresh chemicals. I haven't seen marks like this on my previous color negatives. Is this a...
Awesome shot Harley. I always know when they are yours.
I like your hand colored one and rollei the best. Those look great. Not sure what the difference in lighting is but those look excellent to me.
Love the composition! Great stuff.
Corran and Sergei, great portraits!
Excellent! Wonderful tonality and composition.
Thank you both! :D I spent a lot of time on the toning. I actually had it much stronger too before I uploaded it.
Thanks. I think the flowers being relatively close meant I didn't need much...
Thank you! I don't know why the Orchids were difficult but I have had them for a while and tried several times but came up empty handed. Also I did this one on both Acros and FP4 and the Acros seemed...

Trickier than color negatives? Certainly not for me. Color negatives get talked about a lot for their difficulty in scanning. But b&w for me is fairly straight forward. Setting the end points and mid...

You're in the UK? Like Lenny said, send the film to Tim Parkin. The drum scans are ridiculously cheap.

I was always under the impression, and have been doing it this way, that you mount the photo to 'mountboard' which is matboard and the backing board goes behind that in the frame for protection and...
Thank you. No it's just toned in photoshop. I haven't done a Kallitype or anything like that in a few months now. Last time I tried they were coming out grainy and I tried changing about 20 different...
Not quite what I had in mind. Tried to keep the delicate tones but it didn't turn out how I thought it would.
