You'll need a minimum of 3 yds since the material is only 50" wide and the FPS for a 4x5 Speed
is 72 " long.
Just curious, but if the curtain is 72 inches long (2...
And, Dan, you never know when you may have to travel to some part of the world where there may be mosquitoes!
When you've been around the list longer you'll realize that Dan is a fountain of good and sometimes rare information. True, sometimes it is a bitter fountain, but the quench is worth the taste. Ole...
Everyone and their brothers will be looking for 90mm Angulons and Super Angulons for their to be delivered Wanderlust Travelwides (900 of them!). Don't expect to find one in the next 6 months without...
I suspect the grave is of a photographer who was trespassing on Navajo land.
Whoa! They even have a picture of the artist - and they say the poster set is available:...
I was already trying to figure out what I would have to do to get a Grafmatic in there. This camera is crying for a Grafmatic - point and shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot!
I'm in for a 65. Ben, at what distance is the focus set?
Maybe it is from 16x24mm (half frame) to 6x9cm (but not 9x12cm or 4x5inches.)
"You push the button, we do the rest!" A photo taken before 1915 on the SS Minnetonka en route to England of a lady preparing her camera to take her own photos. The negatives were developed and...
Hey Kirk,
Have fun and good luck on the weather!

Had more than I thought I did:
4 1/4 inch (108mm) f/12.5 Extreme Wide Angle an oldie but goodie on 5x7
6 1/4 inch (159mm) f/12.5 Extreme Wide Angle ~1945 excellent lens on 8x10
8 1/4 inch...
Thanks, Louis. That's pretty nifty.
Anyone have a link that shows how the "built in" extension rail works? It's not too obvious in the photos.
Not too desirable without the extension rail in my book.
EE would be 1944. I don't know why these lenses have gotten so popular. I tried one 10 years ago and then gave it away.
Hi Hans! I really enjoyed viewing your images (but I missed Chaco somewhere.) It does seem that you have entirely too many fine cameras. You have my shipping address;-)
I always use 350ml of PMK one shot per 8x10 when developing one at a time in a tray. A little EDTA as per Gordon might prolong the life of a larger volume for serial processing.
That and the Chinese characters on the driving wheels;-)
And who can we order from?
On the nautical theme, here's another one from the old unmarked brass lens. The brig Lynx while in harbor in California.
I've always had a soft spot for Pictorialism;-) Although they can produce interesting images I personally have no use for Petzvals used beyond their intended image sizes to get sharp center, then...
Jan, our LF group is thinking Hovenweep in the fall.
Now if we can just tie it in with Kirk's Canyons of the Ancients Gathering........
Those are probably US (Uniform System) stops rather than f/stops so US 16 is f/16, US 32 is f/22, US 64 is f/32 and so on.
At one time in the past I had 2 Soligors and 5 Pentaxes (2 digital, 2 analogs of different vintages, and one really old one that you looked down into.) All 5 of the Pentaxes agreed with each other;...
Roger, years ago I bought a new bulb for mine hoping that was all that was needed to make it work. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Must be the "ballast". Would you be interested if I can find where I...
Everyone delivered their prints to the Center today and it looks like it will be a really nice show in a great venue.
No, as Goamules wrote it is the apparent diameter as measured looking through the front elements.
Jack, I had one of these back when. The lens board was made as a slider to permit the taking of 2 5x7 images on one sheet of 7x11 by centering the lens over each side. Notice the extra groove for the...
You're not painting again with that funny paint are you Curt?
Please don't tell my 180mm APO-Rodagon that it doesn't cover 5x7 because that is where I use it;-)
dhirsch, that's 348 euros, not dollars, so 6.96 euros per sheet. The euro is worth $1.27 so actually $8.84 per sheet.
You said you wanted to make contact prints and this is a very beautiful silver chloride contact paper and the only one as far as I know that is available in RC. Contact papers are slow relative to...
Neither. This is what you want to find. http://www.freestylephoto.biz/428282-Foma-Fomalux-312-Resin-Coated-Grade-2-Contact-Speed-8x10-25-sheets?cat_id=505
Barrie, I don't have the 8x10 back but I do have the 6.5x8.5 back which would be about two thirds as thick as the 8x10 one. It works perfectly. As the "cone" part of it is light aluminum, it might be...
Yeah, Jan, between the frost we had and the horrendous winds yesterday most of the leaves have either gone brown or just gone around Denver. Maybe 100 miles south in the Wet Mountains SW of Pueblo...
It was interesting after reading this thread that I came across a patent issued in 1950 for extruded aluminum film holders. The patent document goes into detail about the problems making wooden...
I just found part of the answer: books.google.com/patents/US2522347.pdf The patent was applied for on Feb 12, 1948 and granted on Sept 12, 1950. As suspected the "49" must represent the model year....
