I realize this is a 4 month old thread, but so what...i have an opinion too :)
I've had my Chamonix since a year or two after they first came out. I also used a Tachihara (Osaka) and a Shen Hao. I...
Thanks Dan,
But I'm still measuring 45mm for the opening. If I measure the front lens element, I get 55 which gets me to f/4.
The lens is mounted in a copal 3 shutter. Can I assume the shutter...
I just got a new to me Wollensak Verito 8-3/4" f4.
It has no aperture markings...or rather it's got some marking made in whiteout. So I thought I'd use some math to figure out what they were. The...
I would think he would have at least a 16x20" camera :P
I haven't done 14x17s, but 16x20s I typically overmat up to 20x24. I don't really like the dimensions of 22x28.
If it were up to me, the entire planet would be set aside as a world park, and no more houses should be built. But the world doesn't work that way.
Drew this isn't the first thread I've seen you...
I've not been backpacking for 30 years nor have I been photographing that long. But here's my take:
I get my LF gear down to about 13 lbs (inc tripod). Using film holders, you may not be able to...
Hi Ralph,
I use one and I think the output is fantastic. The inks last a long time and it's shown to be a very economical printer as well as having the deepest blacks of any color printer. ...

Hey since you have a digital camera, why not use your meter to make exposures with the digital just like you would the 4x5. That is setup up digital camera, spot meter, place grad on digital camera...
Oh my, more ArtSpeak. We really need more of that.
So the critics idea is that tossing a person or a building in one of these pictures will make the photographer more engaged?
I really don't...
Preston, this is awesome! Nice image!
Jim, that's beautiful!
I have a 5x7 black mat board with a 4x5 hole cut out. I tied a string to it and marked off my focal lengths with a sharpie. The string is a loop so I can hang the thing around my head. Most of the...
Adam, get Michael Gordon to print an image for you on the Designjet 130. It's still the best color printer out there in my humble and mostly ignorant opinion.
Mark, these are great! Thanks for sharing!
Theoretically, no. Any time an image is passed through an optical system, it will degrade. That's physics. However, acutence can be made up for, eg via unsharp masking.
Do you have a copy of...
I'd love to, but am previously engaged on the weekends for the next couple of months. I hope you do this again!

Lon,
you're talking about a difference of 300dpi vs 292.5dpi at the print stage. Yes, you will have a degraded image, but will you be able to see it? Only if you know what to look for and with a...

More of my images are made with a 135mm lens. The second runner up is 240mm. Close behind that is 75mm. 400mm after that.
As I recall, the Shen-Hao doeas have axis tilt. Which model do you have?
I was there a couple years ago in December. In my opinion, 10 inches clearance on your camper will get you there with no problems. I've been on much worse roads. The Toroweap road was pretty...
