First, I want to really thank Phil from the bottom of my heart. I would be a much poorer photographer if I had never found this forum. Thanks also to just about everyone on here for thier help,...
While I hate to see this happen, if my experience with them was the norm then I'm not suprised. Their membership fees were not affordable to anyone on a tight budget. I tried a few times to...
From the little I've gathered Hurrell's subjects used little or no makeup (Joan Crawford was not too happy about that) and he lit them pretty hard with hot lights and then retouched the negatives...

Not really sure, but with both knobs in place you have a bette chance of using back rise/fall without inadvertant tilts and once both knobs are locked down maybe the back standard is more or less...
No expert here either, although I do own an nice B&J 8x10, if you look on EBay, old Burke and James catalogs sometimes show up, they might be a source of further information. good luck.
Geez, I just had the old grey paint matched at a good paint store and then put a nice new red bellows on it, but what do I know, I like grey. Otherwise, I agree with the 000 steel wool, great stuff...
I have the 150mm that I use with the Calumet adapter ring on a Copal shutter and get very decent results, I picked up the lens for $45.00...

A chance for a date with Trib?
I just got my 8x10 B&J back from the UK and they did a very good job of remanufacturing the original bellows. Took about 5 weeks or so and cost about $350.oo, inc shipping. Lee Filters in LA (ask...
Josh, I live in a small studio (SF rents are the highest in the country and the only darkroom rental house in town just got evicted for the dot.commers), the first thing I got was a Harrison...
Edmunds Scientific sells iris's in various sizes and mounts, not sure how that would work out and not inexpensive either.
Schnieder makes a nice adapter ring that goes from 39mm to a Copal 0 thread (ava ilable thru Calumet) so you can use all your 39mm enlarger lens on a Copal O shu tter. I have used it with my ...
I picked up a fair condition Eastman View #2 about 8 months ago for about $200.00. After cleaning it up and patching the bellows I have found the most limiting factor is the lack of any f/s and...
I'm not familiar with the Sanders but I reccomend using either the Zig Align or Parallel box from Versalab to make your alignments. I use the Versalab on my D5XL and it does a good job but is...
thanks jim, My first concern was really that as my camera is old and shaky (and has no front tilt) and that replacing a cap on this lens (which looks fairly heavy) would cause too much shake...
I've been using a modern 300mm lens on my old Kodak 8x10 with some nice results but I really want to do head&shoulder B&W portraits. I have some basic lighting gear but prefer indoor natural light....
I use some elasticord in different lengths (try a fabric store) to hold up the sagging bellows on an old KodaK D2, it works ok and does no damage to the 98 year old bellows.
I posted on the same subject just recently, I found that Pentax and Zeiss also make make close up lens but went with a Nikon 3T mostly due to cost and availabilty. I've just used it with a 300mm...
I too am curious about this as I've just about finished with Westons daybooks and his expousure times all seem really long? (I realize the materials available to him were very different and may not...
thanks everyone, I've decided to try to work with a close up lens on the 300 for now. It is in a copal #1 but the schnieder adpt ring I bought from calumet would not mount my enlarging lens (150mm...

I have a 300mm Fuji lens that I would like to use on my old speed graphic at som ething other than infinity. I've seen prevous posts reccomending using a nikon T series closeup lens (5T/6t) with a...
I've been using an old 127mm Rodenstock (off a Land Camera) on my Speed Graphic butnow comparing it to my new 300mm Fuji I can see the difference. Not that the 127 is bad, though. My frustration is...
I highly reccomend the Ries head for LF.
I have taken the lens off of a 1908 Kodak 3a Folder to use on my Speed Graphic. This is a rapid rectilinier type, f4 to f64 in shutter in like new shape and I t ried taping it on to a lens board and...
If the price is right, I just bought my first 8x10 camera, a 1902 Kodak D-2 and while its old and creakey so am I. The biggest fault is that there are no front swings or tilt. Depends what you want...
Wow, I now have 3 coats of this Polyshield stuff covering a large number of corner pinholes, it really works! It dries somewhat flexable and maybe alittle too sticky but I will try to give it some ...
If you can afford it the Darkroom Innovations cloth works very well, I use mine on a Super Speed Graphic.
Eureka! Thank you Mr Cesari. After a searh on Episcope I have found that an Episcope is a device for photographing closeups of skin lesions (yuck!) I found a military issue DUX Episcope at a NZ ...
Ah, that may explain why one of the other bits looks like a big reflector that held a large lightbulb. A 4x5 slide projector? Geez,I guess I could could have the biggest slide shows on the ...
Possible, but the condensors and lens were each mounted on seperate metal plates, there were some strange things in the box with them. The lens is bigger than any lens for any enlarger I've ever...
