FWIW, my Shen 4x5 fell out of the Kirk quick release onto the sandstone at Horseshoe Bend recently. Had a Nikon 90mm lens attached. Not a scratch.

Patrick - I knew somone who did this all the time. The problem with hanging lightboxes on the wall is what to do with the wires. Sitting on a flat they look incredible.
In my experience, the amount of travel between focusing on the far vs the near gives me a rough idea of how many focus/tilt/refocus iterations I have to go through. 3 or 4 is about average for me.

A 3 x 3.75 opening is the same aspect ratio as 4 x 5. Makes the frame smaller and easier to pocket.
