Actually the sand there is in the form of large granules, so it isn't as insidious as it seems. Part of the geology of the area is that the sands are continually dissolving and recrystallizing in a...
Really I don't think any area is 'better' than the other. One can spend a day or two in a specific area and not run out of things to photograph...
I have shot there before and I have to disagree. At then end of the dunes there are big rolling dunes and little else. If you are looking for run of the mill shots this is the place to go.

Just a guess but most of these wide angles are similar in construction to the zeiss series IV and series V protars. You can get plenty of information about these on the cameraeccentric site.

For contact printing I use a plain piece of 1/4 inch glass, it is pretty heavy and holds everything together for 15$.
The usual way to do this is to dry mount the print onto matte board.
Usually you want the longer cell in the front, although I don't know how this lens is set up.
I am starting to think that these are sensitizing dyes and not necessarily the anti-halation layer. Not that it matters!
velostigmat is a generic name so it is hard to say what the lens actually is. Knowing the aperture size and any other lens markings might help somewhat
Thanks Sandy.
Is there a tube diameter you can recommend for 8x10?
doing formica is easier than you think. You just need a router and special bit to cut it, you cut the piece, glue it on and then rout the edge. I think the glue is just a contact cement.
I was just going to load them in the dark and then put them in a stainless pot with a top. Maybe drape a black cloth over for good measure.
point source enlarging also increases contrast by a grade over a condenser enlarger. i have had a heckuva time trying to find information or equipment for this technique.

Yeah recording companies(sony bmg) are also the ones that were installing rootkits last year with their music cds. Just because something is popular doesn't make it good.
Way overrated. Rocks and dried up stuff everywhere ;)
Last summer we had an intense monsoon that washed away many of the roads, with some several feet were lost. For some reason they keep building houses in the arroyos here.
In the jan 07 "New Mexico" magazine there is a comprehensive article on the badland areas that are publicly accessible. Many people don't realize this but the badlands stretch over a huge area and...
I don't think so. That is a different link and it states that both papers are graded.
They also offer sheet film and paper in 10x12. I am wondering if this is a popular format?
I am looking at the site for the Chinese photo manufacturer and they split their paper into two categories..'printing paper' and 'enlarging paper'. What does this mean? Are they talking about contact...

For canada I have never had problems with USPS. For Europe/Asia I use USPS 'air letter' which is very inexpensive and again no problems.
I have had bad experiences with UPS when shipping large items too. Most people don't realize this but fedex is equipped for handling really large stuff.
If the stuff about J&C starting their own coating facility is true than most likely he stopped rebranding their film. To tell you the truth I really havent heard anyone on the boards say they were...
