Anyone else want to jump in here with their own commercial? Anyone...?
The 3021 leg set is more than enough for any 4x5, no matter what it is made out of. Combined with a 3030 head, it is very stable with a field camera attached. I even use a 3011/3030 combo with a...
Jim, Could you elaborate on that? 4 stops between sunlight and shadow is not so unusual for anywhere. Please explain.
I agree with Kevin. you may WANT a monorail to use in the field,.. and you may THINK you need a lot of movements. But after shooting for awhile, you will find that you don't. The only really...
I was in the beginning stages of withdrawal, glad to see the site is back up!<BR > Well, I am off in a few days to do 2 1/2 weeks in Utah/Arizona with me little Ta chihara (and Mamiya, and 35, and...
" I don't know Meeks' work that well, but for Mann it WORKS." Doesn't work for me. I have had a hard time understanding the accolades... to me they're just snapshots with an 8x10.
"I noticed that the reciprocity factor doesn't follow a doubling sequence as do asa/fstops/shutter speeds. " Michael - FYI - that is why it is called "reciprosity FAILURE" - The relationship...
Johnathan, Check yer email.
I hate arguing politics, especially here - but you started it. For a country boy (by that I do not mean just "not in the city", as in - midwest agribusiness, no land NOT plowed, "country" - ) I...
I never entirely remove the dark slide - ever. Slide it out- leave it in place - snap shutter - slide it in. Why would you want to entirely remove it? Seems like a gamble to me.

Nathaniel, YOUR comments seem to be misplaced, in fact YOU'RE wrong. :)
It's funny.... the folks who are the greatest proponents of digital, namely the commercial photographers, will be the first victims of the new technology. They will go the way of the pencil and...
Thanks again for all the help!
Thanks for the info Ellis and co. I guess I'll take both holders along and bring the Polaroids too. Thanks again.
Is Polaroid Polacolor 100 (type 79) a good fit for exposure/color proofing for P rovia 100F and Velvia? Latitude acceptable?
Thanks. I am aware of the difference between the QL and the QC - I was curious about the model types because I have read a few statements about the "Japanese" version (or QL II). From what I...
Get Monaco EZ Color - calibrates your monitor, scanner and printer all to one standard using standard IT8 targets.
I saw a post here in the archives relating to Fuji Quickload Holder and the poss ibility of a couple of different models. I am intent on buying a Quickload holder for an upcoming trip, and I notice...
Jorge - This question is as valid relating to large format as any of the million questions that have appeared here regarding darkroom processes and enlargers. Just because you use a wet process...
I agree with John - doing this in an outdoor setting would be much nicer than sitting around a table.... keep me posted as well, I'd be interested.
I prefer to keep both standards vertical, and tilt or rotate the landscape.
I know that most home darkrooms have the exhaust motors either in the room, or just above it - and I know that nearly everyone reading this will say that is the best place to put them, for a...
You just bought a Hasselblad - and now you want to do hand-held 4x5? My only question is - <<<WHY?>>> You will do nothing with a hand-held Graphic that wouldn't be better done with a Hassy....
Katharine, If I understand correctly from your description, this is an older BJ with all wooden front standard and not the later version with the metal angled corners? I have used and rebuilt a...
I agree that maybe you should lighten your load a bit and save your health. I have yet to shoot 24 sheets of film in a day! Are 12 holders necessary? I am amazed that you actually carry around 16lb...
I do most of my landscapes with a 4x5 Tachihara and a Schneider 210 and have lat ely been looking for a wider lens for closer quarters.(specifically Antelope Can yon). I thought about an older lens...
Can anyone give me the coverage run-down on the 127mm Ektar? Is this a usable lanscape lens?
If a screw-in filter is going to cause problems with cut-off, then a bellows-filter holder will only be worse - much worse!
With all due respect, Neal - maybe you need more hobbies.
Just to shed some light on the post (nyuk, nyuk) that suggested gravitational influences - light is unaffected by gravity.
Geez... that sounded terrible! What I meant to say, Aaron, is don't worry so much about the ethical, phylisophical (sp) question! There really are not many.
I am amazed that you even ask such a question. Unless, of course you are joking (not out of the question, I suppose) Unless you're a news photographer, why in the world would your choice of subject...
LF and I have made amends (again) and we are enjoying a 2nd honeymoon of sorts. I have been shooting more lately than when I first began. My main love is landscapes - not so much the grand, sweeping...
When moving to LF from other formats (particularly directly from 35mm) the first thing most people experience, is the realization of how little they really knew about photography.
....Excuse me - it's more like 27%!
First off - I'd take a hard look at your E.I. - how did you arrive at such an adjustment? 40% of rated speed seems awfully slow.
It doesn't make much sense to keep either the 120 or 121mm. They are both so close to the 135 to not make that much of a difference in practice (the same goes for the 180/240) FWIW: I'd keep the...
In reality, that "peak of the cone" or hinge-point, when using tilt, is at a point below the camera lens. Think of two panes of glass, parallel with the front element of the lens and locked with...
Thanks for the input from everyone. I guess I gave the wrong impression when I mentioned my gear- addiction. I have a lot of stuff, but I only take what I consider the essentials with me - -4x5...
