  1. Re: Exposure Compenstation for Bellows Length

I've long used the Calumet Exposure Calculator. Its a very simple and straight forward way to get to the bellows factor. I think they still sell them. It's a two piece (target & scale) set. Put the...

I'm with Steve. Would you consider using a rollfilm camera in place of the large format?

    Re: Rodenstock Sironar-S 210 5.6

The price for a used 210 Sironar-S (the one with a red stripe) in a shop is around $800.

It is common that items offered for sale on this forum will go for somewhat less than a shop would charge...

A sekonic 508 zoom & later versions will give you both zoom spot down to 1 degree and ambient readings.
  5. Re: Ball head for view cameras--any leveling shortcuts?

I'm with Robert on this. The B2 will support whatever camera you want, adjust in one plane at a time and never move.

    Re: Dark cloth alternative

A Hybrid Blackjacket is the best I have used. I'm on my second one, the first was for a 4X5 and and now I'm using one on a 5X8. I recommend them highly. A review is posted on the homepage.
  7. Re: Tools needed to tighten lens to lens board

I have no doubt that Ron's idea is correct. Photographers don't normally use spanners all that much, but if you are interested in build quality the spanner from SK Grimes is the best I have ever used.

  9. Re: Scanning 4x5 with Imacon 646 - disappointed..

For some reason, Imacon scanner software will sharpen the image until a setting of -120 is used. I read an article by John Paul Caponigro (online about 5 years ago) that gave this piece of...
  10. Re: Any decent shutter release cables out there?

Joshua Dunn I agree with Ron Marshall. I have two of these and while expensive they are outstanding. Sort cable releases can transfer shock and create vibration, thats why I use longer ones. The...

  16. Re: New to 5x7: Are 240mm and 300mm lenses in one kit redundant? Opinions sought...

I think you nailed it, John. The 300 & another selection later is a logical way to go. I have 150, 180, 240, 300 and 480. The 240 and 300 are too close to be really useful IMO. When I have the chance...
  17. Poll: Re: Starting out - Rodenstock or Schneider 90mm

For a first lens something normal or perhaps a bit wider is a good place to start. A 135 will give you a slightly wide view on a 4X5 without screaming WIDE ANGLE. It will give versatility using shoe...

  31. Re: Anyone use night vision goggle while cutting film?

Re: Harrison Jumbo Film Changing Tent

The Jumbo Harrison tent is large enough to hold my 24" rototrim a box of 8X10 film and the 5X8 holders. No need to get a smaller rototrim just to fit in the tent, very neat.
