That lens would work well for portraits if the image character is what you're after, maybe a little tight on movements for landscapes although it should be sharp, 450g in a Copal 3 shutter seems a...
Dan has the method to do it without any calculations or equipment. As an extra point if you have a later compur #1 with the chunkier design of the speed setting ring then there is a mechanism to...
The Learn Camera Repair website (and associated Facebook group) is a great resource for learning how to fix and service things properly https://learncamerarepair.com/. It's run by a few professional...
The Repro-Claron is different from the G-Claron. It's a similar design to an Artar and many other process lenses and may not have sufficient coverage on 4x5 for landscapes. A G-Claron is a plasmat...
Fair enough, that's a shame. If you know anyone from the art school who might know where the other lenses from the school went it might be worth trying to follow up if at all possible. Those are some...
Things look a bit mixed up here, the short rear element looks like its from a super symmar xl 80mm. The two shutters also have different aperture scales, one with a max of 5.6 and the other with 4.5....
I just got my shipping notice so I'm pretty excited. I'm backer #660.
Looks really entertaining, and almost there on the KS, good luck. I'm sending a PM.
OK, but in this case the assembly work is hardly more onerous than rotating the front standard into position and the design is light and compact with good rigidity due to it's simplicity.
I gave the Vanbar Sydney store a call and they had the 1L Tetenal E6 kits in stock so I was able to pick one up to at least process the undeveloped shots I have now but certainly in the future it...
In the Melbourne store I guess? I emailed them through the website to ask and they replied they were out, sounds like it would be worth calling them.
So it's been a year and a half and I'm in need of some more chemicals. Any aussies out there processing E6 at home? How are you getting chemicals? I checked with Vanbar here in Aus and they said they...
Success! I got the lens removed. In the end it was simply a matter of a stuck retaining ring, it seems that there was a lot of thread-locking compound in there. The technique that worked was to put a...
So it sounds like the problem I'm having is simply a stuck retaining ring, thanks for sharing your experience Struan. That's a bit worrying in a way because I've already been able to apply quite a...
Hi Floyd, thanks for sharing your experience. The situation is that I'm trying to remove the lens from the Sinar extended board simply for re-mounting on another board. The shutter looks to be a #1...
OK, I tried loosening the inner retaining ring which holds the shutter and the shutter becomes loose in the housing but the front element is still rigidly attached to the housing. In this lens the...
Has no one handled one of these lenses? I'm thinking that the fact that the lens is mounted on an extended Sinar board is a red herring, as far as I can tell that's not part of the shutter housing...
The shutter on these lenses is built into a mount/housing, it might not be well shown in my first picture but I'll add another to this post that I've nicked from the web. Anyway the shutter and front...
Hi all, I've got a single coated Super Angulon 165/8, the type with the funky shutter housing as pictured. The glass is excellent and the shutter works great but so far I haven't been able to remove...
What about 72xl, Super Angulon MC 120 and a 180mm/210mm lens. Huge movement possibilities with each and a good spread of focal lengths to give your shots a range of perspective. I'd see the 58mm lens...
Thanks for the info and the offer (alas I'm in Sydney). I had a look on macodirect and the only shipping option for the 5L Fuji kit was 91 Euros, I figured it would be expensive to ship but that...
Hi all, I'd like to start doing home development of E6 film and I'm looking for a reasonably economical way to get hold of the chemicals in Australia. I don't mind buying larger quantities (maybe...
Well in that case the Canham JMC 8x10 would be one possible camera, at least it has sufficient extension to use the 1200mm at far distances and can use the 110xl. Not too heavy for an 8x10 field...
Did the film edge markings develop? If they did then it would point to an exposure problem but if they didn't it sounds like a developing problem. Can't really say what happened to the developer but...
According to Schneider's data page the filter thread should be 40.5mm with a pitch of 0.5mm:

The spacer plate would be interesting as long as it still allowed use of a normal film holder. Otherwise you're back to undoing screws to switch between normal film holders and grafmatics etc....
Thanks again, not really sure why I was on the fence to be honest as this is going to be a great product. Just made a few rather expensive acquisitions lately blowing out the photo budget bigtime,...
That got me off the fence Dave, cheers. Definitely lucked into checking the thread at just the right moment.
Also, congratulations Ben and Justin! This thing is flying now, could get 1000+ backers...
No problem, I think with a little patience you should be able to pick up one of the Fuji's for a reasonable price. Good luck.
Well the specs say that lens has a image circle of 173mm, giving only very limited movements on 4x5. The image circle spec may be a little conservative and you may eke out a little more, especially...
Since you're already using a MOD54 for processing 4x5 I'm assuming you have a Paterson 3 reel tank. I've used the 3 reel tank to develop 5x7 film taco style with good results so far and you can do...
It sounds like a 210mm lens will be fine at infinity but when focused to portrait distances it is not. This is to be expected as the actual extension of a 210mm lens is most likely greater than 240mm...
Speaking of the 5x7 B&J flatbed, there's one on ebay at the moment for quite a low price. I have one that looks to be in similar condition to the one for sale and I'd say that it'd probably be a bit...
I've used a 75mm on a Crown Graphic (top rangefinder) and it works fine with the bed dropped and the front standard on the inner track. As Neal said the bed must be dropped or else it will be in the...

Wonderful image, the mist gives great separation and depth.
Great shots Martin, what a wonderful place!
Looks like quite an interesting mod, here's some links to a couple of conversions I found:

Normally the mounting hole is a little wider than the rear threads on the shutter and there is a raised lip on the retaining ring which fills this extra space, perhaps the board your lens came with...
