    Re: 5x8 Camera Build

Looking good Michael. Can't wait to see it in the field making photographs.
  2. Re: Dagor Type G Claron 210mm f9 Filter Size ?

You were spot on Greg. Got the caps for the lens as you directed and Bonzai - a perfect fit. Much appreciated my friend!
  3. Re: Dagor Type G Claron 210mm f9 Filter Size ?

Ordered a step up ring for the front and a cap for the rear. Will post the results when they arrive. Thanks Guys!
  4. Re: Dagor Type G Claron 210mm f9 Filter Size ?

Many thanks Greg. Will order them accordingly. Very much appreciate your assistance.
  5. Dagor Type G Claron 210mm f9 Filter Size ?

I acquired an older Dagor type 210mm f9 G Claron lens that came with out caps and I wanted to see if anyone knew what the front screw in filter size is and what size cap would fit on the rear?

  6. Re: Let's talk 8x10 B&W Film brands and musings.

I am with Drew on older T Max 400. I am focused around T Max 400 as I have a load of it. Ilford FP4+, Delta 100, and Foma 200 (don't like the 100 and 400 ASA versions, but that may just be me) are my...

    Re: 11x14 Lens Options?

I have shot with my 240mm Computar on 11x14 recently and was surprised that I clipped the corners. Need to check it in more detail. I can't believe that the mounting in a Copal 3S shutter has any...

    Re: 11x14 Lens Options?

Great question Scott. I purchased a 600mm 24" Apo Germinar barrel lens from Kerry like you did, but it was quite a bit wider and shorter than my Apo Germinar. I ended up selling it when I found a...

    Re: 11x14 Lens Options?

You are correct, I was looking at the chart column for 8x20 instead of 11x14. The normal lens for 11x14 is the 19" (480 mm).

    Re: 11x14 Lens Options?

Agree that the 355 G Claron is a must for 11x14. Yes, it is very wide angle on this format (equivalent to a 26mm on a 35mm camera), but it does not feel shooting with it that it is that wide. Likely...

Re: Carbon Fiber Tripod for 8x10

HA! Learned that my tripod has a whole other dimension than I previously either was not aware of or did not use. Four sections instead of three. Every day we learn something new.

Re: Carbon Fiber Tripod for 8x10

I pulled my CP34-L4II tripod out of the closet and it surely is a three section tripod (ie three leg sections with compression tighteners) so I am a bit confused about your question. What I like...

Re: Carbon Fiber Tripod for 8x10

I have worked with a myriad of tripods over the years including Gitzo, Ries, Linhof, Manfretto, Majestic with my 8x10, 8x20 and 11x14. I can honestly say that once I started hiking it was only then...

Very nice. The image very effectively conveys the wind and cold. That long tree appears to be very fortunate to have any branches at all.

    Re: post your trees!

Thanks guys. The second stump was there and I was able to integrate it in the image. Much easier to see it on the print as the quick shot of the print is what it is.

  24. Re: Is hand check film available at Rome airport (FCO) in Italy?

Glad that it worked out so well for you. Agree it is not worth trying to buy LF film locally. Last time I traveled abroad I spread the risk in two directions. I had B&H send me a box of 25 sheets of...
  25. Re: Is hand check film available at Rome airport (FCO) in Italy?

I find it very interesting to see how much extrinsic risk is normalized in the world today. In this specific situation the reality is every airport ascribes to a unique protocol for security that can...

  30. Re: Is hand check film available at Rome airport (FCO) in Italy?

I would not take a chance with hand checking sheet film personally. Just too much risk involved unless you have 35mm or roll film which they will hand check all day long. Quite simply the intensity...
