  1. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Thanks for all the advice. I went ahead and purchased the following:

    Cokin Z-Pro Holder
    Z-Pro 77mm Adapter Ring
    Z-Pro 67mm Adapter Ring
    B+W 77-67mm Step Down Ring
    Formatt Hitech 4x4...
  2. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Rumor has it this might fit....?

  3. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

So...more research. Many say a polarizer is critical. In that case, where would I find one that fits the 100mm Z-Pro? I only see Lee makes one for around 300 large ones.
    Unless I am better off...
  4. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Yes that makes sense. So the overall density is the same. One half is yellow with clear behind it. The other half would be clear with grey behind it or whatnot.

    I have a silly question, but I...
  5. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

I am sorry I am such a mess.
Can someone help me decide a few things, please?

First searching for these things on eBay is a pain (and I'm a youngin'). Search terms are so many options...ND or...
  6. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Thanks Alan for all the info. I got a Z-Pro holder for 15 bucks!!! Just looking for filters now on eBay.
Seems like searching for 4x6 at first was hindering the results. Tried 4x5.65 and over 600...
  7. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Ugh. I still haven't made up my damn mind. I think I am just going to spring for the Cokin system. One of em...I think P system or Z-Pro (supposedly the holder is much better and stays on/etc.) is...
  8. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

And I understand there is value to having both. I think I eventually will. What I need to decide on is what system to I dive into for now that will get me by.
That way I can get the holder/step up...
  9. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Ahh, thanks. My widest lens is 77mm.
  10. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Oh, I guess this is part of the pros/cons. With circular screw on filters you lose the ability to use graduated filters. So for landscape stuff (most of what I will be shooting in NZ) the Cokin setup...
  11. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Interesting, doesn't seem as bad as I am thinking. Thanks again for the information.
Maybe I just grab some 77mm filters for now and a step up ring from 67 to 77. Hmm.
  12. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Understood. I am set on the system though...well, crap, I think I am. I can't keep changing up since their are so many pros/cons to every system. I have to make a decision and just lock in especially...
  13. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Ok, thanks again for the info. Yes, I am fine with resin. I am also fine with middle of the pack quality. Don't need the best made ever nor the walmart line. I don't mind investing a little, but with...
  14. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Any additional comments on my above questions? You all use eBay? Seems like Cokin and Lee/HiTech are good. Schneider and Formatt glass? Resin vs glass? Resin I assume is thick plastic?
    CP? Color...
  15. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Thanks for the information Thomas. Very helpful to know your setup/system.
  16. Re: Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

Thanks for the information, that is very helpful.
  17. Help With Cokin Filters...Or Filters In General

    Hi all,
I leave in 6 weeks for my honeymoon. I would like to find a set of basic filters for my Chamonix 045N-2 4x5 camera. I think I am toting it and my Leica M2.
    I was considering a Cokin Z-Pro...
  18. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

I need, **want**, to pick up some filters for the 4x5 kit. Thinking about Cokin system.
I guess at a minimum I need orange full, orange grad??, maybe a yellow?, a little ND stop, big ND stop, and a...
  19. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

    Bought These!
Hoping the above work, I have used Ben's before and the stuff is great. Never tried the wipes.

And yes, I wish we had 2-3 months. Maybe when/if I quit work and we are called to...
  20. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

Thanks all for the advice! Much appreciated.
  21. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

A man named Youxin Ye repaired my Leica last year after the prism separated.
He mentioned a guy (that speaks little english) who is in the states and could repair my Rollei. He knows and trusts...
  22. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

Ok, David has me 100% set up, as I am getting a personally written novel from him.

Any advice on cameras/lenses? What lens would you suggest for taking to a place like NZ? We are spending all of...
  23. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

Friendly bump for any advice. I messaged you David, let me know if it didn't go through.

    Thanks!!!
  24. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

Thanks again for all the advice. I will send you a message/email David!
  25. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

    Hey all!!!!
I didn't see all these recent (sorta recent) replies. THANKS SO MUCH!!!
I had been traveling a ton for work in Sept. and missed a lot of these.

    We were pretty decided/leaning toward...
  26. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

Agreed, 100%. I am fairly confident that I won't bring the 4x5. Probably just the Leica.
She is so kind and patient. And knows I have her in mind, before the photography.

    Doesn't mean I cannot...
  27. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

We would absolutely love Iceland. But, gonna assume end of Jan/early Feb is pretty winter-like.
  28. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

    Hahahaha. Well, in that case...

I know this is a long shot...and not a lot of people have been to either or both. But, you never know, and perhaps some that have traveled around them have input to...
  29. Re: Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

    I've been to Peru!!!
    And it is pretty spectacular.
  30. Honeymoon - Leaning Toward Argentina or NZ (Early February)

    Hi all,

Received LOTS of great advice on where to go in CO for popping the big question. Well, it happened at the end of July, and she said yes, so here we are. :)
    Any travelers out there have...

Worst case, we can shower once we get to Denver on Saturday. I am sure we will both survive and just embrace the BO.

Thanks all for the advice. I know there is WAY TOO MUCH to see in a meager 4 days. I think we will try and stay more to the north this time, so we don't spread out too thin.
And I am on hold right...

Maybe the first night we stay in Monarch or Gunnison National Forest. Then get up early and do a day visit at Black Canyon of GNP. Then we head and camp near McClure pass for the second night.
