My M1 Scanner is no longer focusing properly. Does anyone know where to get it repaired?
Thanks.

Beautiful intimate portrait. I think your familiarity with the subject shows and that adds a lot to the image.
I got the M1 when it originally came out and I really like it. It's head and shoulders above my old Epson 3200. It doesn't give me the detail of an Imacon scan but it's great to be able to scan at...
Good question. There is a lab in SF, I think it's light wave or something like it and there is a lab in Berkeley. They're both pretty expensive, about $5 a sheet. I started sending my film to...
Maybe we like shooting with view cameras. I don't think a 5DII equals what I get with a view camera. Medium format, probably, but I don't have a spare $40,000 which is what I figure I'd be out...
B&H says discontinued. They would just not list it or say out of stock.
I had a rude awakening when I went to B&H's web site to buy some film. It seems that Fuji has discontinued 50 sheet boxes of their 4x5 film. I hear rumors that they're discontinuing Astia 100F too,...
I used to shoot a lot of Velvia 100. It had a tendency to overdo red light, but in neutral light it performed pretty well. I recently shot some more of it and I was horrified at how magenta the...
Last day of operation is February 5th.

I can see using one in a pinch but to take a very mediocre digital camera that probably costs less than $10 and use it to replace a good hand held meter is absurd.

Thanks, Jeffrey. I bet they have a lot of show this week.

It just has a map of Yosemite Valley.

We've just released the second app in our iFotoGuide app series. This one is a photographer's guide to Yosemite Valley.
Rather than a regular travel app, these apps are particularly designed for...

I would say that it takes a similar amount of content for a photographer's guide book. You need to cover important locations. Let photogs know in advance what to plan for light wise and let them...
My partner, Bret Edge and I have just released iFotoGuide, a photographer's guide to Arches National Park.
Here's a link to the App: ...
There's alway Muir Woods in Marin County.
It's hard to answer such a question for someone whom I don't know. I don't know your photographing style or what kind of images that you want. Keep in mind if the weather is clear and sunny, and...
This sounds like a lens from a Hasselblad Super Wide C. http://www.gilghitelman.com/news_0005.html
As far as I know, the lens wasn't interchangeable, however.

I don't know if these places do C41, but they do E6. There's Photo Craft in Boulder, CO at $2.45 a sheet and Calypso Imaging in Santa Cruz, CA at $2.25 a sheet. I've used them both and they seem...
I used to have a flip up hood similar to that on the Graphics on my Shen-Hao. It was useless in any bright light. I've found the BTSZ hood to be the most functional of everything I've tried.

I'll be exhibiting up to 10 prints at the Elsewhere Gallery in Fairfax starting July 3rd. I shoot 4x5 transparencies with a Canham 45 DLC.
Sharing the exhibit is Mallory Geitheim. She shoots b&w...
Congrats, Harley. Good luck with the exhibit.

I was at Newlab last week. They are no longer processing film. :(

I'd heard good things about Photo Craft in Boulder CO for a while and I finally had the chance to use them recently. I was very pleased. Their prices are great too.
I also use NewLab in SF whose...
If you just want something for quick scans, then maybe a 4990 or 3200 is the way to go, just make sure that Epson has a driver for your OS. I had problems with my 3200 as Epson didn't have a Vista...
I running an M1 Pro under vista and I love it. Color is extremely accurate and sharpness is far superior to my Epson 3200. I've made prints up to 19x24 with is with acceptable sharpness.

I use my 75mm Nikkor without a center filter and there is some vignetting. You'll have to decide if it's too much for you or not. Heliopan makes a great center filter for the lens and the last time...
With Microtek's help, I got Scan Wizard Pro to work and it indeed very clunky but scans that were just horrible in Silverfast look pretty good with Scan Wizard Pro. I do a straight scan with both...
I recently got an M1 Pro Scanner that I'm using with Vista. I've calibrated the scanner with the Silverfast target. The latest version of Silverfast produces scans without banding and I haven't...
SK Grimes can make a custom slip on holder for you. I had them make one for my 58mm Super Angulon. You'll need to send them the lens that you want the holder for.

I can't speak for Sequoia/Kings Canyon, but my favorite time in Yosemite is the Winter. It's already very crowded in May and only gets worse till October.

I upgraded my old XP computer to a new one running Vista Business and I'm having trouble getting my Epson 3200 scanner to run. I have Epson driver, the lastest update from Silverfast and I try...
Add Cantoo in Berkeley to your list.

People really wanted the old velvia back and it looks like that's what they got, including the 1 stop exposure increase at 30 second exposures.
I'll pass.

Thanks, Preston.
