Yes, Bob, you are right, as usual. I apologise myself for this stupid mistake.
But, my real mistake is that I always have the finder residently set on it.

Hi, everybody,
for a large format camera, these bubble levels which can be mounted on hot shoes need a hot shoe ! I know, this is quite stupid to say that. But I don't know which view or field...
I add that you could find some resellers in France. I have a list which I could mail to you if you wish.
Hi, everybody,
Bruce, it might be very pleasant if your bags could be distributed or shipped to Europe (and best to France, and best of the best, to my home.
I already use Gnassgear lens bags,...
I don't know how the Sachtler tripod is made, and I fear that this levelling base can only be adapted for Gitzo tripods. The tripod needs to have a collar to fix the base. Might be better to try it...
The Gitzo G-1570 M low profile head is like an aircraft carrier :) . I post two pictures of the Gitzo head and the Linhof lower side.
When the camera is fixed on the two clamps, it is firmly secured...
Frank,
I use an angle indicator that I bought by McMaster-Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/ - Page 2241. Ref. 20145A41
It is made of cast aluminum alloy, not plastic, an has no magnetic base. ...
I use a Gitzo G-1570 M low profile head in magnesium. It can take TWO quick release clamps. Mine are Linhof's Quickfix. But any other model can be fixed on it using the two 3/8 screws.
The system is quite simple : the lever on the side of the leveling base is linked with the head screw. When the lever is on the left side, the screw is free. Screw the head as far as possible, and...
Hi, Joanna. Pleased to meet you here, and your Ebony on your website.
To be honest, Larry people who use a (nearly) 8lb camera handheld are a bit crazy. But happy to do it ! Don't worry it is not (too) contagious.
Firearms - legal ones, of course - must be well protected against theft or unauthorized use.
Thus, secured weapons storage cabinets seem to be a good solution, and not too expensive, if we consider...
Well, Larry, that's good news if you can use your MT with the rangefinder. I'm glad if we could help you.
Now welcome to the MT/RF/HH* addict club !

Larry,
it's a pity (or a shame, or a crime, or what you want) to see the rangefinder removed on a Technika as did the previous owner of yours.
Many wooden or metal cameras (like the Wista 45 SP) -...
Yes, the reflex viewer is excellent. I have one, and I think that it is a bit bulky in a bag, as it doesn't fold as Horseman models do.
Only separate into two parts. Maybe a bit fragile in a bag.
OK. This "focus mount" is what I thought.
- Similar focusing mounts are used on a Linhof for lenses which have to be placed inside the housing, like 47, 55, 58 and 65mm wide angle lenses. I...
But what happens to all the gear, cameras and accessories if the robot has a sudden "malfunction" ? Is there an "emergency knob" if it decides to jump into a river or from the top of a cliff ?
The distance scale needs to accurately appreciate the distance by sight, which I am totally unable to do. I would have to use a laser rangefinder.
Some small mechanical rangefinders can be mounted...
Tom Westbrook wrote a review of the Gnassgear darkcloth : http://www.tomwestbrook.com/Photography/lf_accessories.html.
I join a "commercial" picture of the darkcloth from their website, the only one...
Ben, I use a Gnassgear darkcloth on a Master Technika, and it works well. Three velcro strips and two press-studs allow an excellent fixation on the camera back.
I agree with you, Kirk. These cameras are really great with one lens, always the same.
But the problem with all Graflex cameras appears when you need to change the lens on the field and consequently...
Might be wonderful if it was a bit "dogized" with a skin, a dog head... and some bark sounds...
Epack,
did you look carefully into the bag where the Linhof was carried ?
OTOH, if an experienced thief "feels" that there is something valuable in the case bolted to the car (why would it be bolted if no value ?) he simply steals the car.
Just for joking...
The most...
And what happens to what is inside the double deck if someone breaks the door's lock ?
I would prefer a case securely bolted to the car's floor.
Otherwise, buy a hearse and place the camera and...
Don't complicate what is simple. Buy a solid Pelican case, and bolt it to the car's body with a detachable system.
Jason,
here is the proof : a Manfrotto 681B with the self-standing base accessory.
And yes, with a Linhof and a Super-Angulon 90mm (not the lightest lens), the left grip, the multifocal viewfinder...
It's certainly good quality, Heinrich. But as I already have all my bags, pouches, belts, harnesses and straps in Lowepro, I will probably not change now.
E.g. I have Lowepro pouches which can...
Unfortunately, the excellent Lowepro Street and Field system has no pouches for large format lenses. On another hand, neither Photobackpacker nor Gnassgear lens cases have any hooks for fixing a...
All photographers are always little children in front of a X'mas tree when they have a new camera or photo gear in their hands. Did you already see a child carefully reading his new toy's user manual...
On one side of the Photo Trekker, between the bag and the stroller frame.
Who knows where I could find some nearly "brand new" Grafmatics and spare septums ?
With a Manfrotto monopod, you can use a small device screwed on the bottom of it.
It is a folding base for monopod 681B, made of three steel legs, which, after use, can be folded and stored inside...
Ed,
In a Lowepro bag. Either a backpack (Photo Trekker) or a shoulder bag (Stealth 650 AW). I prefer to carry several bags (one small backpack, one medium shoulder bag, and a toploader) than one...
Each time you stop walking, you have to lay it down. A tri-wheels stroller always stays in the same position. Do you see the difference ?
When laid down, you have also to bent in order to reach...
I carry all my lenses into Gnassgear cases.
The smallest one can carry 3 lenses on Technika lensboard. The case is equipped with removable dividers to adjust the case for the length of the lenses....
Many photographers in the 40s used to shoot with a Graflex (Crown, Century, Pacemaker, Speed Graphic...) handheld. Only a problem of frequent training.
Once you tried to use such cameras handheld,...
Which LF gear ? Whether it is a Sinar P2 or a Speed Graphic, handheld, the problem is "sligtly" different, no ?
What about describing your equipment ?
I found a post I wrote in april, 2004 about the Sherpa cart (already) :
Yes, but...
with a 2 wheels caddy, when you stop, you have to lay it on the ground.
On three wheels, (why do we use "tripods", and not "bipods" ?) the carriage is very stable, and it stays upright...
