I've been happily using my Chamonix n-1 since it was first released... love my camera! I think it's the perfect blend of stability, usability and portability!
The service from Chamonix and Hugo...
These three images are from a very quick trip to Yosemite in August. I was hoping for some weather, but as always, be careful what you ask for!

Use it a lot. Get used to it.
I've been using a Chamonix 45 N-1 since the early days of the brand and it's been a wonderful tool over the years. I wouldn't change anything about it.
Buy the...
Remember, what goes down must come up. If you are hiking to Silver Falls, take as many holders as you are comfortable carrying out of the gorge! The hike wasn’t bad, but depends on what you are used...
I was up there on Thursday and Friday... Ellery Lake and a couple of ponds just west of the East gate had some nice ice formations. It was cool to see Tenaya flowing over it's banks like that.

Using a Cable release?
F32 should compensate for any minor film plane issues.
Is it possible it's a scanning issue? You didn't say if you looked at the negatives with a good loupe.

It's been at least 30 years since I've done it... but we used push tri-x in diafine or microfine. (something with fine in it) Shadows were extremely quick to block up.
We switched to Tmax 3200...
Strobes are a big no-no in gymnastics competition if I recall from my days as a Sports Photographer... at least at the elite level.
- They still do...
I might try and get out there...
I can't see any reason why I can't make it... I won't be rolling in until Friday night!
What you should have done... is presented them across a table in print form with friends! either over a pint of beer or cup o' coffee
Ha!

Any chance you can take a photo of your adapter and post? I would be very curious to see if I should travel that path
The back that came with my camera... (aftermarket) doesn't have any metal corners and fits just fine. Here is are some detail shots of my sliding back where the back meets.

I guess I don't see modifying a frame as a bad thing... I see two 8x10 cameras that were both missing 8x10 backs being reborn to their original purpose.
The adapter frame is an intriguing idea...
I'm not picturing the spacer layer.... I don't mind making a permanent change to the back.
About to modify my B&J 8x10 film back to fit my 8x10 Agfa studio camera.
Seems simple enough.... Am I under thinking this?
I just need reduce the dimensions by cutting 1/8 off both the top...
I mis-typed on my original post... I meant to say I love my N-1. I don't have an F1
No complaints from me.... Love my F1

Thanks Jim... it's funny, I have driven by that place hundreds of times over the past 20 years to go surfing or photographing at Montana de Oro. I'm glad I finally found the sense to pull over and...
I'm not sure who really makes it... but I've had good success with it. It responds as expected with Ilford MG filters. It seems to tone well, even though I just tone enough to get rich blacks and...
Thanks Stone,
Lens was a 75mm grandagon on 4x5. Can't remember which one, but it barely covers 4x5 with no real room for movements.

I do it. To keep from getting turbulence effects, I change my inversion technique every time and also set the tank down upside down and sideways as well throughout the process.

Gloves! And water containers to dip your hands into when needed....
And never touch the emulsion part of the negative to be safe, only grab tips and corners
Glad to see another large format shooter in the area... Let me know if you ever want to get out and shoot.
I need to work on capturing the area where I live better! Tons to shoot around here
Why do you need 1/125th if you are shooting with strobes in the studio?
I shoot with strobes and a packard shutter with no issues... I used to front mount a packard to my cooke portait
It was too small, pushed down through the hole...
Harvested a ball bearing from a donor ball point pen, and installed it in the hole.... Seems like it might be a little bit too small. Can't wait to test it after it cures.

The best format is the one you are shooting.... (And are equipped to shoot)
I prefer 4x5 in the field and 8x10 in the studio...
...durrr!
I get it now, I was thinking the shim moved up the ramp engaged the click stop. Took a bit of reverse thinking to realize it disengages it.
Now to find a ball-point pen. Maybe I will...
