The Cube is a fantastic head. Love it for fine adjustments, especially macro. I have no doubt that it is a creative tool helping me get better images easier. All the benefits of a geared head and...

  4. Re: Lighting for soft-focus lenses (like a Hermagis Eidoscope or Kodak Portrait Ektar

Who cares about someone else's intent? I am concerned with what would look the best. Not broad lighting on most portrait subjects, but aside from that, soft lens and hard light is a great...

Re: Cooke vs Heliar vs Zeiss

It was a mistake doing the "test" handheld. The dof is razor thin. Any movement of the camera throws off the focus plane. Hard to make much out of this since the eyes are not consistently in focus.

    Re: 6x17 Images

Love the barn and the composition, Dan. Regarding the Canham 617 back, I have heard from several sources that these have issues with misfeeds. Any issues with yours? The bad rep has kept me on the...
  7. Re: Possibly purchasing my late friend's turn key darkroom / studio....

The darkroom and systems have no value to anyone in the market besides you. Most buyers would just clear it out. The commercial space is pretty easy to get a value based on comparable sales. The...

This has been covered, but let me put in my .02. If all you needed was an online store, we'd all be too busy counting our money to post here. These services will do a good job of killing sales for...

Re: 4x5" to 5x7"... is it worth changing?

You can do 4x5, 5x7 and 617 with one camera. Light enough to put on a tripod and carry over your shoulder. Do macro 4x5 and have the extra bellows. Half the size and weight of 8x10 which is where...
  16. Re: 8x10'' 末 Arca Swiss F-Line Metric vs. Lotus View

    Re: 5x7 Chamonix

I'd like to have a 5x8 Chamonix. Perfect aspect ratio and much more film available if you cut 8x10 in half. I have an 8x10 Chamonix and love it, but it is big to walk around with.

  25. Re: Canon IPF8300-Must all ink be purged to move it???

Ditto on the 120 Nikkor. I love it. Covers 8x10 so 4x10 would allow more movement. Don't see any stability issue on the Chamonix.
