What is everybody's favorite enlarging lens, in particular for 4x5 enlargements? I have a 150 Schneider Componon-S, and would like to know if there are sharper lenses available.
Thanks
Fred

Hi all,
I recently heard that Kodak will cease to make the Readyload film holders? Is this correct?
fred
Hi all,
I had a similar problem with the Kodak Readyload holder, had to take it apart, and remove the metal clip. But after this operation, the holder was never the same. Frequently, the Readyload...
Thanks guys,
I can hardly wait to go. My wife is coming since its an anniversary trip. I'll have to keep her occupied while I'm under the darkcloth. Is there a shopping mall nearby? :)

Thanks for the support. I tried to do the nozzle check, and did the cleaning several times, but the magenta nozzle shows that it stays clogged. Do I repeat the cleaning until it clears up?

I'll be going to Tofino, on Vancouver Island, end of June, and I expect to have some striking images of the coastal region. Can anyone recommend any spot in particular?

Hi,
I've used QTRgui on my PC for quite some time, using the curves that are available in the software itself. I have always obtained nice black and white prints, up to now. After I replaced the...

Hi,
I'm flying into Pheonix this Thursday, and I wondered if there is a decent LF camera store one could visit there, or in Flagstaff?

Hi all,
I am curious how others store their prints after they have been finished. I tone my prints with either selenium or sepia. Then I dry mount them onto a backing board.
Should they be...
Hi Peter,
I had similar problems in the not too distant past, and I found that if I secured the top of my enlarger so that it can not move or shake, I ended up getting sharper images. I bolted...
I am planning a trip to New Mexico next month, flying into Albuquerque. Is there a good camera shop in Albuquerque which sells 4x5 film, and LF accesories?
Thanks.
Fred
Thanks peter and Micheal,
I do observe the emergence time of the image as I start the development, and it does tend to drift, from about 25 seconds to about 35 seconds. This may be a factor to take...
Hi all,
I often find that development times of prints are not always reproducable. I do my test prints, get the exposure, and develop as usual. Then when I repeat the rpinting at a later date, and...
Hi,
I have been using the Kokin filters and holders for my 4x5 lenses, but since I recently damaged several of my filters, I need to re-purchase new filters. Kokin filters are not available right...
Hi,
I've been shooting LF for about 2 years, and I continue to learn from each outing. I agree that we need to shoot and shoot. Not only the shooting part, but I find that printing also has a long...
Thanks Paul,
Is the emergence time also relative to developer depletion?
Fred
Hi,
I have the problem of my darkroom always being cool, around 17 to 18 degrees Centigrade. (Desired temp = 20 degrees) For printing purposes, is any temperature compensation required? I seem to be...
Hi,
I just found out that it is not a good idea to "dry" BTZS tubes in the microwave. OUCH!
They will melt.
Anybody have some for sale?
Fred
The dilution I was using was the Kodak formulation. (1:7) . I will try the 1:64 dilution.
Thanks.
Fred
Hi Andrew,
Yes, I used my enlarger to expose the film. What kind of lighting in your darkroom did you use on the step tablet? Can you light it with the enlarger, or did you use the ambient light...
Hi,
I did a test on TMAX 100, developed in HC 110. I followed the BTZS procedure, and plotted the data in the "Plotter" software as per instruction. I ended up with a very narrow SBR range 3.1 to...
Hi,
thanks guys for the advice. I have been shooting TRI-X 320, which I rated at 160, and developed in HC 110. I will develop the TMAX in the same developer. I am not too worried about the...
I went out today and shot a few sheets of TMAX 100. I inadvertantly metered the images with my spot meter set at 50 ASA. I had meant to shoot them at 100 ASA. I have not shot a lot of TMAX 100, but I...
I am considering going to Pyrocat HD development of my negatives. I understand that a color densitometer is required to read the negatives. Is that correct? I have a black and white densitometer.

Where can I obtain the anti-newton ring glass plate?
Fred
I have the Epson 4870 scanner. Wondering if one can obtain a neg holder for 6x17 neg for this scanner? Where to obtain?
Fred
The smaller size of the camera would be an attraction to me. Carrying less baggage also. In addition, using 120 roll film would be less expensive that cropping the 4x5 negatives. However, a 6x17 back...
Hi all,
