Marco,
I use a Technika IV handheld with a side grip, viewfinder, and a cammed 150mm Sironar-N that was cammed by Martin at Marflex. I think it is the best large format camera I have ever owned and...
One observation about vacuum amount.
I used to operate a copy camera with a vacuum surface that held down a halftone screen over the velox negative paper. When the brushes for the vacuum died, I...
I don't have any advice for you, but I can report that I've shot IR820 in the mid day Canadian snow and it recorded the scene fine. Also, your exposure of 1/2sec and f/11 with an R72 should have been...
I had my Sprintscan 45 running years ago daisy chained with a Sprintscan 35 plus, but currently I only run the Sprintscan 45 on SCSI and a Nikon Supercoolscan 5000 which uses USB.
I recently...
I'm running a Sprintscan 45 (scsi) on XP.
I use Polacolor Insight version 5 and a fairly old Adaptec Scsi PCI card.
Are you using an inline scsi terminator in your scsi chain? Sounds like...
Congratulations Mr. Miller. A project worth doing and well done.
I made a decision a couple years ago to spend less on gear and more on artwork.
My wife and I purchased one of Roman's prints from this show and we enjoy it very much. I enjoy it much more than...
I would consider putting up some posters in the area where the lenses were stolen. Often when a thief grabs a bag and discovers the stuff is old or has no value to them, they dump the bag and someone...
Thanks for the idea Dave. I'm always looking for new great ways to camouflage my gear from thieves.
I've used just about every shipping case you see in the B&H catalog, which are often too heavy...
Lounge??? I've had it blocked for so long I forgot it existed. :)
For those that are new to the forum and find the discussions in the Lounge tiresome at best, you can exclude the Lounge from your...
I load my Combi-plan tank inside my pup size Harrison tent often and it works great. Like others have said, it can be a little cramped so stay organized inside the tent.
I also found it helpful...
Tony,
I have a Betax #3. It needs a 48mm mounting hole like Ernest says above. The overall shutter diameter is 75mm.
Thomas,
I use a couple lenses with the Efke IR820 film and a Hoya R72 filter.
My Rodenstock Sironar-N 150mm needs no correction for focus. I use it at f5.6 often and have never had a focus...
I made a spreadsheet to calculate my total vehicle overhead ($6200), minimum miles driven (17000), price per gallon, and vehicle miles per gallon.
I don't usually charge much profit on this since...
QT,
I wouldn't sign the overmat because it is serves a function of protecting the print and can become damaged as time passes. Signing the front below the print area is up to the artist and I see it...
Forgive me if I have confused anyone, but I only own the old style Linhof finder and the Cavision Director finder. These two work the same. They crop rather than using additional optics to zoom like...
I left two Lenswork magazines and three BW magazines in a free pile outside my apartment in Toronto today and they were gone in 10 minutes. Maybe they will subscribe when they can't find it at...
That's interesting Donald. I wonder if the size of the item matters because some things slip into pockets easier. I'd rather lose all my lighting and cameras than 6 months of work. Sorry to hear...
If you have more than one case, get ready to charge the client if you can. I always have at least two checked bags for shoots that require travel.

Funny how photographers will fight to the death over their copyright, but when a company reverse engineers a product and offers it at the "right" price, the photographers all line up to buy it.
Welcome Peter. I like your photographs.
Ralph answered your question about the movement. I'd like to mention that I sure like the mistake and that some great work is done this way by accident. :)
There is something about that Aviar that I really like. I think Cooke made a mistake on it at the factory and you got lucky and found it. :) Send me a note if you ever want to sell that one.
I missed any mention of whether or not the copyright for this image was filed before infringement. This could explain the small award.
I also wonder if he had hired an attorney if this would have...
Has anyone seen the Michigan Dunes? I always see the sign, but I have never made time to stop. Maybe Frank wants something wilder. I'm curious anyhow.
Dave,
Did you open up the lens to F4.5 while you were composing or focusing and then stop down for the exposure? I've had students do this on their first time out, so I thought I'd ask. You would...
I don't have any work scanned or copyright registered yet, so I can't post it. Digital Truth has some comparisons that might work for you. I think I saw a sample here once, so you might try a search....
Tri-X with R72 filter will yield blank sheets. I've already tried it once for the heck of it years ago. Tri-X does not record the near IR spectrum.
I shoot Efke IR820 4x5 with an R72 and it gives...
I'm not Bob, but I was asking Martin at Marflex for a hand strap last May. They were $110 and available May 07. I assume you are talking about the side strap and not a strap for the top.

I'm perfectly happy with all my Linhof Technika stuff - viewfinders included.
But, for those that want a cinema type directors viewfinder, here is one I own that I used to use when I shot with...
You're correct Greg and not missing anything. I guess I just mentioned a shade as extra prevention for flare.
Also, a side note about flare. Bright light sources during night photography will often have flare if filters are used, dirty or clean. Care should be taken unless you want the flare artifacts in...
I'd agree with the other posters. Those lines look to me like a filter that is dirty or perhaps move the filter to the rear like Vaughn suggests. It seems like you were using a nice filter, so IMO it...
Ed,
I misunderstood your question about a gray card shot. nevermind.
My architecture days are behind me but, IMO, daylight balanced Provia has a nice neutral palette that can be adjusted with filters on location. A transparency offers a nice reference for the clients...
That's good advice QT. I would also suggest purchasing a copy of fotoqQuote or the fotoBiz software if you plan to license more images in the future.

Jim, thanks for posting these wonderful photographs.
I would recommend, however, for maximum optical clarity that the pipe be sloped 1/4" per foot to allow the light to flow properly through the...
cyrus,
I'm curious how you sent your registration into the district, USPS or ? Thanks.
I agree with Steve. Freeport Blvd. from South Sacramento along the levee is wonderful and Locke is a very nice stop. They are also photographer friendly and will not give you any trouble if you...
I would agree with Mr. Vaughn. If the sky is a problem, don't include the sky in the composition. Or, try playing with various grades of graduated ND filters. A .3 or .6 will knock a sky down.
