Re: Epson V750 and Imacon 848

    Mark,
I did the same test with an Epson V750, Imacon 848, and my old Sprintscan 45.

My results were the same as you have found. Even the old Sprintscan held it's own when sent out to the printer....
  2. Re: Hand-holding a Linhof Technika (V and beyond)

    Marco,
I use a Technika IV handheld with a side grip, viewfinder, and a cammed 150mm Sironar-N that was cammed by Martin at Marflex. I think it is the best large format camera I have ever owned and...

Re: How to make your own vacuum frame?

    One observation about vacuum amount.

I used to operate a copy camera with a vacuum surface that held down a halftone screen over the velox negative paper. When the brushes for the vacuum died, I...

    Re: Problems w/ EFKE Infrared

I don't have any advice for you, but I can report that I've shot IR820 in the mid day Canadian snow and it recorded the scene fine. Also, your exposure of 1/2sec and f/11 with an R72 should have been...

    Re: Sprintscan 45 in XP?

I had my Sprintscan 45 running years ago daisy chained with a Sprintscan 35 plus, but currently I only run the Sprintscan 45 on SCSI and a Nikon Supercoolscan 5000 which uses USB.

    I recently...

    Re: Sprintscan 45 in XP?

I'm running a Sprintscan 45 (scsi) on XP.

I use Polacolor Insight version 5 and a fairly old Adaptec Scsi PCI card.

Are you using an inline scsi terminator in your scsi chain? Sounds like...

  8. Re: Roman Loranc - exhibit opening - San Anselmo Dec 13

I made a decision a couple years ago to spend less on gear and more on artwork.

My wife and I purchased one of Roman's prints from this show and we enjoy it very much. I enjoy it much more than...

    Re: Stolen Lenses

I would consider putting up some posters in the area where the lenses were stolen. Often when a thief grabs a bag and discovers the stuff is old or has no value to them, they dump the bag and someone...

Re: Pelican vs. Calumet vs. Storm vs. ?

Thanks for the idea Dave. I'm always looking for new great ways to camouflage my gear from thieves.

  12. Re: Loading HP Combi Tank 4x5's in film changing tent

I load my Combi-plan tank inside my pup size Harrison tent often and it works great. Like others have said, it can be a little cramped so stay organized inside the tent.

    I also found it helpful...

    Tony,
I have a Betax #3. It needs a 48mm mounting hole like Ernest says above. The overall shutter diameter is 75mm.

Re: Focusing LF in the Infrared Sprectrum

    Thomas,
I use a couple lenses with the Efke IR820 film and a Hoya R72 filter.

My Rodenstock Sironar-N 150mm needs no correction for focus. I use it at f5.6 often and have never had a focus...

Poll: Re: Alternative to signed mat

    QT,
I wouldn't sign the overmat because it is serves a function of protecting the print and can become damaged as time passes. Signing the front below the print area is up to the artist and I see it...
  17. Re: Linhof Universal Finders - Synopsis of versions and capabilities?

Re: Better than an Arca Cube? Korean Head

Funny how photographers will fight to the death over their copyright, but when a company reverse engineers a product and offers it at the "right" price, the photographers all line up to buy it.
  22. Re: Hello, my name is Peter and I am entralled

Welcome Peter. I like your photographs.

Ralph answered your question about the movement. I'd like to mention that I sure like the mistake and that some great work is done this way by accident. :)
  23. Re: Apricot Blossoms! 8 antique lenses and paper negatives.

There is something about that Aviar that I really like. I think Cooke made a mistake on it at the factory and you got lucky and found it. :) Send me a note if you ever want to sell that one.

    Re: InfraRed filters?

Tri-X with R72 filter will yield blank sheets. I've already tried it once for the heck of it years ago. Tri-X does not record the near IR spectrum.

    Re: Linhof serial number

I'm not Bob, but I was asking Martin at Marflex for a hand strap last May. They were $110 and available May 07. I assume you are talking about the side strap and not a strap for the top.

Re: Exposing with a bright sky

I would agree with Mr. Vaughn. If the sky is a problem, don't include the sky in the composition. Or, try playing with various grades of graduated ND filters. A .3 or .6 will knock a sky down.
