Nice one Jim. A little snow really does give a different look to Zion.
BTW, I met you at Zion last fall. Enjoyed talking photography with you for a few hours.
Some good suggestions and I would only add that a glass cutter that has a cutting wheel in excellent condition is a must for clean cuts. Glass cutters are inexpensive and if not sure of the condition...
Wish I could be there. I share the opinion that Richard's work ranks with the very best.
I also do not personally use a vacuum clean for my holders. I do use an anti-static brush and canned air when needed for cleaning and anti-static zip lock bags for storing until ready to use. Dust...
The best vacumming set up I have seen was at a local studio/lab (now closed). The vacuum, a Shop Vac, was located outside the small room where holders were cleaned. The hose connected to a wooden box...

I totally agree with Lenny that there are some very good scanners out there in your price range. Great deals do come along from time to time as well. A few years ago I picked up a Scitex Eversmart...

Beautiful image Nate.
Thanks for the comments. I am a pretty recent Pyrocat HD user and have to say that I am very happy with the results I am getting with it.

This is another from Point Lobos. It is also from a negative, HP5+, exposed 4 years ago and developed yesterday in Pyrocat HD, 1:1:100 at 70 degrees for 10 minutes in a JOBO CPP2, slowest rotation.

Barry, I recently found a couple boxes of negatives that I exposed 4 years ago and am in the process of developing just now. I do not know for sure but I think I rated the HP5+ at ISO 400. I...

Thank you Andreios. I had not seen the Bernd Nicolaisen video. Amazing images!
Sorry for you loss. Makes me think of how many times I have left gear in my vehicle overnight. I guess locks are not a sufficient deterrent. Hope you recover the gear or have it insured.
Thank you. I used XTOL 1:1 in a JOBO CPP2 for the TMX.

OnOne Software's Perfect Mask does a pretty good and quick job.
I use the technique for boosting mid tone contrast when an image, or parts of an image would benefit from it and also use it in conjunction with layer masks to paint it in or out selectively.
I have the BH-55 with the lever clamp and have no complaints. It is a well made head. I do use RRS plates, however Wimberley and Kirk plates manufactured in the last year also fit the RRS clamp,...
First off, opinions are like...well, lets just say we all have one. Personally I have had several 3-way heads, the last being the Manfrotto 808rc4. All the heads I have owned have worked fine. At...

You are right Lenny. We are biased toward what we choose to spend the $'s on. I went with the NEC 2690WUXi2 based on what I had read about it and the fact that I could not afford to pay over twice as...

The 3800 and Gold Fiber Silk paper combination are capable of very nice prints. That narrows it down to the rest of your work flow, which you will have to go into a bit before any one can really help...

Barry, I made my adapter board. If you have the time, you can save a lot of $'s. I had just made several lens boards and decided to use one to make an adapter. I also made the metal parts, but I...
