This is the first image taken with the Petzval-type lens I bought from the shady Australian guy.
I wanted the whisky in focus.
I'm not sure how this lens performs yet, looks a bit odd right now,...

Gloves it is then. :)
I was in a hurry before I went to NZ earlier, and my film pusher didn't have a proper changing tent. So I bought a Paterson changing bag. Looks OK, with tight double sealed holes for your arms and a...
Just received the shutter back from George Brown (apogeebee).
Professional job done quickly for a good price!
I also got some bits and pieces from him for a fair price.
Thanks for the tip, he...

About a minute, I seem to remember.

Something went "wrong" with this film; sadly I can't reproduce this solarized effect at will.
Mabel looked awesome in her 50s dress, and I hope she'll like a print of this.

Hm. I didn't really notice the rocks until they were pointed out. My eyes jumped straight to the reflected glow... :)
Hehe. Well, I don't know. I see people posting Petzval distorted alternative processed grainy blue brown red smudged selective focus shots with watermarks, I can't imagine my flare is the worst...
Thank you!
I like the flare, though, so it's staying. :)
Plus I can't clone it from the slide, which is what I like to look at. Mmm.
I'm not completely happy with this, for several reasons. The grass in the foreground is a little dead, I prefer clouds in my landscape shots, the snow on the mountain peaks is blown out and I kind of...

Jim, that's beautiful!
Do fake waterfalls count?
This is in the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
Feel free to teach me how to get the odd shot without that rainbow flare... :)

Hehe - ready for some red?

Sinar, 90mmSA, Ektachrome100.
Self portrait, asleep.
3 hours exposure, 6x12 pinhole camera. :)

Well, the lens arrived in fairly good shape, despite cheap and not too safe packaging.
The focusing mechanism works, the lenses seem clean and undamaged, and they are correctly mounted (as far as I...
I'm off to the post office to pick up my purchase.
The seller's name on the package is "Carla Warla", with a P.O. Box address.
I'm screwed, aren't I?
Thanks everybody.
I wouldn't want to send it to anybody who hasn't ever seen one, I already tried that myself... :)
Interesting about the price with and without cable. I'll remember to take care...
Having a bit of bad luck with the weather.
It's remarkably beautiful here, but the clouds are a bit thick and low...
The return from Queenstown to Christchurch I didn't see a single peak. :(
But...
I just bought the Holga Wide Pinhole Camera (120 WPC) which is for 120 film and does 6x12 (or 6x9 if you prefer), but I guess both the "Holga" and the "pinhole" might put you off :)
And it has no...
Thank you. I will try to find someone local when I get home, but if not I'll look him up.
In Singapore last week, the front standard slid off the rail and smashed to the ground. The lens made it, but the Copal Sinar shutter module (not mounted on the lens but the big one) died. I opened...
Oh, that dusty road is really good! Yum.
Outstanding.
But wouldn't someone here have told me that I blew it, cutting his finger like that, had I posted that portrait under my name? :)
In parallel with trial&error&error&error, I have read and nearly understood the articles on the front page.
I have to thank the contributors, without whom I would still not know many of the hows...
My wind tunnel is good for 4 strips of 120 if I space them properly and have clips to weigh them down.
Sometimes I put the fancy looking HP Combitank innards right in there, but singles go alone.
Oof. I wish I'd seen this before I bought from this guy.
I just paid, and the seller was indeed ocean_image.
Now you've got me all worried.
:o
Hm. Looked square to me.
There was indeed a circle of about that size, on a square (or so I thought) base plate.
I'll let it go, then.
Thanks.
In a used camera shop in Singapore I found a Linhof 6x9 back, which looks like it's never been used.
Very pretty and well virtually irresistible.
So, it's got a square mounting flange thingy,...
I just won a Petzval on the bay and was thinking about how to make something. In my mind I see a piece of old metal with a perfect fit, but I'll probably end up duct taping it to a piece of plywood :)
Only in a half finished state. :)
I hear the view from the golf course is nice...
Thank you everybody for good advice. I have followed some of it, and I will follow other advice once I get down there.
David, you are most generous and confirm my prejudices of Kiwi hospitality...
Yes, I took one of the frames off, to fit everything in a quite small suitcase. I feel confident it will make it.
I took the Sinar to my cabin, which is about three km from where I park the car,...
It was given to me by a friend.
I don't have a selection of 4x5 systems to pick from. :)
On the other hand, I am travelling business class and have a gold card, so I don't really have to worry...
Thanks!
Yeah, I have two lenses, so I'm bringing two. (90 and 210) :)
The extra glass sounds like a good idea - I have a couple here, I'd be WELL annoyed if the ONE I brought half way around the...
Got one of those large (70x70 cm) Paterson changing bags, even though I'd rather have a tent. No time to wait for shipments from abroad, had to get what they had. I also got a pack of TMax400, the...
I am going to Singapore and the south island of New Zealand for work, and it looks like I'll have some time off which means renting a car and going to find some nature to take pictures of.
For a...
Sorry to hear that.
Too young.
Great portrait.
