Oh, oh - slow down, please. Where do you have that from? Surely not from an experience. Do you realise it is not correct, neither for the length nor for the difference made?

I know what lens shades do.
Have a good day (and once you want to actually see you're wrong do the tests I suggested).
Bob,
I know how a compendium lens shade looks.
I suppose you did not perform the simple test I suggested that proves your lens shade geometrical concept is wrong. Never mind, it's easier just to...
Mr. Ken Lee,
I have taken the liberty to add to your comment above a simple note stating that a tent has usually 4 walls (or at least 3) not 1 only. You have deleted my comment as "rude". Can I...
Mr. Ken Lee,
respectfully, I have to inform you, that in doing so (i.e. revising your post with a different wording) in the time indicated by your posting, you were actually acting against the rules...
Cudos to you. That's the correct answer. In any way much, much more practical than building "a portable wall" (whatever that means) and trying to dance with it according to the wind. If you know you...
Yes, it is an overkill. Not because of the shading capacity but because of its ridiculous weight inadmissible on LF cameras for this kind of accessories.
Why not to make yourself such a shading...
Bob, your explanations show that you still don’t understand correctly the underlying geometry involved in a lens shade construction. It is erroneous to think that for the simple fact of the shade’s...
Ken, both you and Bob are wrong. Even if you configure the shade's sides in such a way that they match the film format ratio and limit the lens view on the film area only it still doesn't mean that...
Leigh, get it straight. Since about the time when Domenico Foschi left the forum (about 3 years ago? to give a time line) professionals were leaving this forum one after another due to heavy handed,...
All good except not mentioning that the water to rinse with should be distilled, not from a a water tap. As it dries up it leaves all the unseen secrets hidden in it.
Your post made me think - why would somebody wanting to take pinhole camera pictures wait for the price to lower when there are plenty of different and cheap price pinhole cameras doing the same job...
Jim, if the bellows vignettes you will see it on the ground glass. See for yourself.
Indeed, the world is now a better place to live in. Everyone can sleep better now. The art is safe again even in the constantly changing world.
Finally someone said it and clearly. Thanks, Ken.
I fully agree with you, Ed. Of course, the choice of a lens depends on the type of the landscape and on one's own vision but I too found the 90mm limiting my vision. I now use the 150mm lens more...
So you like inkjet prints, right?
That says a lot. Doesn't it?
Sorry, Steve, if my post misled you. I didn't mean to comment your post but Kirk's. See my post # 53.
So, film is better than digital, isn't it?
Once again, by announcing details of your OS you might have made future attacks on your computer easier or more likely? Just my 2 cents.
I agree on all points. It is difficult to decide who's talent is greater in this case. And yes, it is difficult to shoot dance with a view camera, it's like wanting to take pictures of a football...
That's correct. I always got bellows from them in a much shorter period of time. At least you will have the right material on your bellows, not any thick inflexible old hide.
You're not shooting dance either. You shoot prearranged poses of people. Quite a difference. Still you're so original at that that people should proclaim you an artist.
The new Linhof 617 is not a rangefinder camera. It has a viewfinder (a very good one) and two options to focus - guess estimate or optional gg viewing/focusing at the beginning of a film roll.
Don't know what you mean by the nice set of cans on that blonde but heavens forbid. It would only distract from the scientific excellency of the test. For blondes go somewhere else.
Thank you, redu, for this lens test. You could not illustrate better the level and the value of these tests. And don't be surprised that other posters strongly disagree with your test results. It is...
Just to add that modern lenses don't need to be "tested" for coverage as that is stated by the manufacturer and is widely available on the net. Unless you want to add to the urban legends and...
A troll will be.
Seriously, due to the well known fact that digital is better than film - I meant the film is better than digital - sorry, got it wrong again, I mean that one is better than the...
Hi Mark, you probably meant "our lenses" can be tested, not cameras. Yes, they surely can be tested but our cameras are not done to test the subtle differences in them. The inevitable mechanical...
I hold with those saying that any testing of these lenses is meaningless in regard to the OP's question. Our cameras are hardly made to function as testing devices and whatever subtle difference...
You're welcome (thousand times?)! A good thumbnail of yours BTW.
Sincerely, I don't understand your problem. Wouldn't it be sufficient to make yourself a viewing frame and see any scene you like with whatever focal length you like? Or, what am I missing?
Ken, I think you misplaced this thread. According to the guidelines of this forum it seems it does not belong to the Announcements at all. (Announcements: Non-repetitive announcements about LF...
Reading the comments I wonder why nobody mentioned yet another possible cause of your PC crash. Maybe you have been a victim of a malicious cyber attack? It would not be unseen. Nowadays people can...
I think you nailed it pretty well, OldCrow. Some posters are just not worth to deal with. That's why the ignore button was made. Cheers.
The same logic can be used for the 4x5 format too. Thinking of Arca Swiss, I never looked back.
Yes Leonard, believe me, it is equally annoying for me too (at least something we can agree about :) ). Nothing is put out of context.
Take it for a normal fact, that you cannot advice something as...
No, it's not, Leonard. A normal seeing adult person cannot focus at the gg from a 6in distance. What would be recorded on your retina would be a fuzzy, non sharp, painful image. Is it really so...
