Wow, thats a great idea! I think I'll try it tomorrow!
I tried it today and it worked great. However, it was tough to get the inner sheet out of the drum. I swear it was welded to the inside of the drum! I tried getting my fingernail under the edge, but...
I have two of these Beseler 8x10 drums. I was reading over http://www.largeformatphotography.info/unicolor/. However, the interior of the two I have is smooth, not ribbed. Can they be used...
That's a beauty. I love the soft tones.
Sinar 4x5 with a Xenar 5.6. Actually, this is my first successful shot with the Sinar! :) Turned out pretty good.

Amazing picture!
I went into the darkroom this evening with a flashlight and worked out the issue. The bellows were not connected correctly to the rear standard. I've fixed that and will try with a paper negative...
If the seals are bad, can they be repaired? Or do I just toss the holders?
I was out today taking the first outdoor images with my Sinar F. I exposed three images, and all three have light leaks along the edge next to the dark slide entrance. I would guess the light seals...
... or you can make them yourself with a 1.5" ABS pipe, some end caps and some couplers for much less :)
The BTZS site has a video which shows how to develop with BTZS tubes... very educational!
Yes, my L1000 has the durst head and the condensers are otocon. There are several different condensers for the head depending on what you want to print. The manual has the various combinations.
...
Also, what condenser do you want Ralf? 180?
Search for otocon on ebay. There are several condensers available for the L1000. You can also check:

The Kirkland stuff is ok.
I'm not sure what your point is... perhaps that Kodak doesn't know what they are talking about?
As I said earlier in this thread, I've used XTOL replenished for the past 3 months and haven't run into any issues. Furthermore, I'm using the very same procedure as recommended by Kodak. 90ml per...
I never did any seasoning besides develop film :) My 5L is currently at 82 rolls of 35mm. I last tested the XTOL against a known scene which I previously developed with fresh stock at 50 rolls, and...
I use undilute XTOL replenished. 90-100ml per 35mm roll. For 4x5 sheets (I've only processed two) I also used 90ml. I guess I could use only 45ml... The nice thing with XTOL is that the replenisher...
That was a well thought out and well reasoned reply.
No one has mentioned freestyle?
Whats wrong with Henrys? They list TriX in 4x5.
35mm scans from flatbed scanners are not great. Ok for small web images, but larger is not so good when compared with a Coolscan 5000 or similar. Medium format is ok. 8800F is not nearly as good as...
After looking at the camera for a while tonight I found an issue. On the rear there are two levers which I guess are supposed to raise the ground glass so a film holder can be inserted. When I press...
Ah, I thought it was broken :) I'm very excited to get the remainder of the stuff now so I can take some pictures! Its definitely not the lightest thing in the world though.
I just received the Sinar F. From what I can tell everything looks good, except the center plastic piece that would attach the rail to the tripod has a crack at the top. Henry's didn't say anything...
I have the 558 which I like, however, it is pretty damn big! With my 35mm cameras I normally use the 208 in incident mode.
Nice shot! I used to live very very close to there :)
When I go back to Shanghai this summer I have to bring my new LF camera and see what I can get!
Thanks for the advice Bjorn. I have a 150mm and 220mm lens. I'll get the wide angle later :) Looks like 90mm is a good choice!
Making a board is probably pretty simple to me. I have lots of ply due to another hobby of mine (model airplanes). I'm not sure how the board attaches to the front standard, but if it is too thick...
I find the kaiser easel that I have vastly inferior to my 11x14 4 bladed Saunders easel. I've never had an issue with mis-aligning the paper in my Saunders, but this was a frequent occurrence with...
I picked up a 6" rail. That should be good to start! I have a lens with a non-standard shutter mount size. What is the recommended approach? Make my own lensboard and drill a suitable size hole in...
Congrats welly! I just bought a Sinar F, and from different sellers all of the other stuff I need. I'm looking forward to the frustration!
What is the limit with the standard rail?
Edit: Ok, I was just reading http://www.largeformatphotography.info/lenses-long.html which says
"The standard rule-of-thumb is that you need about 1.2...
I also just won a bag bellows for $49 :) I guess that means I need to get a wide angle lens! How low can I go with a Sinar F?
Thanks Bjorn! I'll look those up.
Sweet. I won the auction. ~$250. Now for a lens, lens board some holders, and a loupe. I guess a dark cloth at some point won't hurt :)
Actually, I don't have a 4x5 at all yet :) I'm strongly considering getting a Sinar F.
I've used the Roark U14 inkset. Looks great! The best part is that I can print on both glossy and matte papers without any change to the inkset.
There is another one going for ~$40. I was more curious as to whether these things perform well, and are generally useful. I guess the main disadvantage is if something goes wrong you lose 6 sheets...
