Re: 11x14 Maco 820c Aura IR film

I'm sorry to say that I don't have a freezer large enough (and never have) for my LF film, much less this film. Randy, yes, but I'm in the St. Louis metro area a bit far from you.

    The main reason...

11x14 Maco 820c Aura IR film

I came across 2 25 sheet boxes of 11x14 Maco 820c Aura IR film today in my bedroom closet. I would like to find out a couple of things. First, is anyone on this forum shooting 11x14 and second, if...

    Re: Fujinon C 450/12.5

I'm glad I came across this thread! I am surprised at the Fuji 300 C price! I was looking into selling mine and the prices I was given by some of the places that buy used gear aren't worth it! Maybe...

Re: Lens shade or just using the hand

I have done both. It depends on what else I might need my hand for (holding an umbrella to block the wind comes to mind). I have also used the lens shade to keep snow off of my lens while shooting.
  8. Re: Whole Plate film holders: expensive, nonstandard, and...available?

I bought a WP camera a while back and it came with 5 holders. I was able to get Keith Canham to make me an adapter for my 8x10 so I can use longer lenses that won't work with the actual WP camera...

  10. Re: Acquiring new gear: Growing as a photographer, or just a "Gearhead"?

Although I haven't moved exclusively to digital, I came to a similar realization with regards to photo gear. All the cameras and lenses and accessories are tools I use to realize my vision. I think...

    Re: Kudos to SKGrimes

I sent an old Crown Anastigmat Series I lens in a compound shutter to Grimes in 2007 (can't believe it has been that long!) which only needed a piston to make it functional again and they were able...

Re: If you could only have one..

Based on the restrictions applied by the OP, then I'd have to decide between a 450 mm Nikkor-M and a 240 mm Docter and I wouldn't want to, since both are really great lenses. Based on price, I...

  15. Re: Anybody have experience with Cooke Soft focus lens?

I have used the lens with whole plate, 6½ x 8½ with no problems. As for use in the landscape, look for things that reflect light, or specular highlights. This is something I learned at Tillman...

A few quick thoughts on the subject.

I could set up in the same place. I would choose the 5x12 format for this (I don't have a 4x5 anymore). I would definitely use a longer focal length lens to...

  32. Poll: Re: A poll about patience ― how do you wait for the wind to calm?
