I use Adox MCC-110 as a replacement for the Kodak paper. I find it to be very close in tonal range and color. The emulsion was Agfa's whose principal competition was Kodak.

Perhaps the following is an oversimplification, and be sure to heap on a heavy dose of luck.

Thanks for the question. No, it was taken from the observation deck of the John Hancock Building. I got lucky with the windows having just been washed. Busch Pressman - handheld.

I'm reviving this old thread with one of my old images.

Bad batch of film gave me a badly underexposed negative. Had to tone negative, flash paper,...
I've had this issue also, even with the release paper sandwiched between rag board. I used to use just rag board, but sometimes the image would adhere itself to the ragmat ever so slightly and then...
Portraiture with shallow depth of field. A good old portrait lens which is relatively fast will lend a very shallow DOF and give the portrait a bokeh that is second to none (ie: 241 4.5 Raptar, 8...
Thank you. Sloss Furnaces is a candy store of textures and form.
"Sloss Stacks" - Birmingham, Alabama. Sloss Furnaces is now an historic landmark in Birmingham. It used to be a major blast furnace supplying the nation with pig iron during the industrial revolution...
I once fabricated a plexi gg for an emergency. Just coated one side with Scotch Tape. Worked fine. Kind of bright, actually.

Well, "bulky" I'll agree to. Otherwise, it is around 10 lbs with a lens. Pike that over your shoulder and carry the 10 lb tripod in the other hand. Nice balance. Hell, that thing hanging over my belt...
Sounds like the beginning of a meaningful long term relationship. Everyone in this forum knows that the learning curve is immense. But we celebrate every small victory that comes along. It is a skill...
I loved my first Calumet cc403 so much, that I bought the other two versions. Stone axe engineering results in stone axe reliability. I transport the camera either in a duffel bag, or over my...
A little slop in the standards will not hurt anything. My Busch has some in the front standard - the shift rail is not tight anymore. Even my Calumet monorails have some slop in the lens board...
I use archival paper hinge tape, not the type that you wet. I used to use the linen tape, but it is costly and adheres with a little too much vigor, like you mentioned. When you apply the tape, press...
I have not found this to be true. Several of my 15"x19" works (mounted to 20"x24") were recently hinge mounted and framed behind glass in Wisconsin, driven by me to New Mexico, hung there for 3...
I think Calumet still sells theirs brand new. I have an old tatty one that has earned its keep for sure.
I've found that the larger the print, the easier it is to hinge mount onto any kind of acid free substrate (foam core, 8-ply alpharag, etc). The images own weight contributes to a nicer presentation,...
Drew!
Come on, be a sport.
Brett Weston liked the Calumet C1 and the Rollei SL66. Walker Evans liked a Kodak Pocket folder. Edward Weston loved his Century Universal. Imogen Cunningham and Irving Penn liked their Rolleiflexes....
Favorite and most often used in my kit: Wollensak 135 4.7 raptar. Got it in minty condition for $125. Had a brand new Rodenstock 150 5.6 APO Sironar S - sold it when I saw what the Raptar could do.
What I do is condition their relaxation at every step by explaining my every move. Assure the model that this will only be about 4 negatives and it will be done in less than 10 minutes. This is how...

Here is a pretty comprehensive listing of forms that you may need now, or in the future. Sort of a library. Most are available for a price.

Outrageous? Not sure what this is supposed to infer.
I stopped using modern lenses (had a brand new Rodenstock APO 150 Sironar S and sold it) in favor of Wollensak Raptars and a 203 Ektar. The beat...

I've seen both, and the IIa seems more ruggedly built to me, has more bellows and a wider array of movements with both base and center tilt in front and back.
Both of these are finely crafted...
