I just added a few minutes to the time in the developer. The normal time in Bath A is 5 or 6 minutes -- for 400 I leave it over 10 minutes. The neg is more contrasty, as expected, but it still...

In my experience Shanghai behaves almost exactly as fp4 for time, reciprocity and such. I was also able to push it to 400 fairly easily in Barry's 2 baths (Metol)
Hmm having the emulsion up doesn't make much sense. It should be down, toward the lens; otherwise you are scanning thru the film base.
I scan the same way as Daniel, using run of the mill window...
I used a crown graphic for a long time before I got the Chamonix, and I was happy with the folding hood for 95% of my shots. Including precise focussing! You just can't beat the compact size of that.
Ah, thanks Joanna, but a company that requires me to register by filling a page of personal data to access their product & price list is not going to get anything from me :/
I've decided to treat myself to my first box of Provia 8x10, for getting the autumn colors in /big/ format this year.
Anyone shoots 8x10 E6 in the UK ? Where do you buy the film, and get it...
I agree with the closure of lounge. This is not a "free speech" forum, it is a privately held set of pages with someone paying for it to host LF discussions. If one is invited to someone place, you...
I grabbed a box too; to be shipped to the UK. I have never used anything like that paper, so it will be a new experience :D
I loved that bit. "Picture Frame" on mines -- which is, literally, entirely and totally 100% true :)
I used a Sinaron 300mm for some time, and now I only use the Sinaron 240mm f5.6. It's just wide enough to be wide, and not wide enough to "stretch corners". And since these lens are giganormous, I...
I always use a TextEdit blank window in the bottom right corner of the screen, I put my 4x5 tranny over it and I can color-correct the scan in the 'real' window with the real 'proof' alongside.
These coated Ektar are all post-war, and there are a gazillion wartime 4x5 Ektachrome still in existence today (many have been added to Flikr the last few months) And "color correction" have been...
it is pretty straightforward to replace the 850nm LED of the Viper illuminator with a 940nm one; that one is 1) a lot less 'bright' 2) even less likely to cause fogging.
You can also buy a LED based...
I think the dots could be great because you can realign the standard when at the back of the camera -- feel them with your fingers. I modded my 45N-1 to have 'touchable' marks on the front standard...
Hmm I'm sorry to get back to the topic here...
I tried in 4x5 the ERA and the Shanghai. The ERA is worthless, the base is thin and the film has a curl to it... it also floats in the Paterson tank...
Oh no ! They mounted the LCD upside down !! typical "made in china" carelessness !
:D
/me with the cute, wonderfully finished, tiny 45N-1 :D
Thanks Dave, got the notice etc. Note that I wasn't particularly pushy on you -- as I said, I just can't be the one to throw the first tone on this topic --; I waited about 6 months to get my first...
Well, I only lost $37.90 to Dave Parker's business, and I've been out on the internet long enough to have to snigger cruelly when I read personal stories about sellers failing to deliver the goods.
...
I use the Orbital as well; I gouged the bottom of mine with a screwdriver to prevent the film from sticking to the bottom (it /will/ !).
It's /great/ for 4x5 sheets; you can use it with 150ml of...
Maybe it had changed recently (I have stocks) but Shanghai 100 in sheet is completely different from the Shanghai GP3 in 120. The sheets are fantastic, I shot several hundreds over the last year and...
I think that closing your eyes prevents your eyes to get accustomed to the dark and 'see' light leaks. Also I find that having my eyes open helps with my 'localization' sense; I can reach stuff...
So far I have developed most of my film (4x5, and 8x10) in a Paterson Orbital daylight tank. It works great for 4x5, a bit more tough for 8x10 but overall the development times I get are consistent. ...
Now that you mention it Songyun, and looking at the picture closer; it looks like fog/and/or separation. I have seen a 300mm f5.6 Symmar S with the same (?) problem, and it wasn't humidity.
It was...
Pack it in a sealed ziplock with a handful of Silica Gel bags. And be patient. Not much else to do really...
I've read that Peak Imaging does 8x10 E6 too, I didn't find it on their website tho....
Comes first here with "ag photo mag"
I wonder why I don't see any mention of "AG" here. It's /the/ best photography magazine bar none. Printed like a book, on proper paper, square format, /excellent/ printings of photographs and the...
Is anyone aware about the possibility to get 8x5 E6 processed ? That could make it a rather interesting as a format!
I just tried a cheapo (£3.50) 8x10 reading fresnel, and it does make a hell of a difference ! At about 20cm, I can see the whole of the frame, instead of having to do the 'head dance'. I think a...
$158 + $28 postage (+ duty + 17.5% VAT) I think I'll try to $10 'reading' fresnel first.
I couldn't find a webshop for maxwell, nor a list of prices.. Anyone found their homepage ?
I already...
I have a tachinara 8x10, and the original screeen/fresnel were obviously cleaned a bit too enthusiastically, so now it is too 'transparent' and I see double images.
I replaced the lot with a nice...
Hmm 'new' Azo ? I never tried it, when I got interested the word was that it was no longer available... Is it available 'new' again ?
No, it's why the topic says "OT".
I always have a couple of folders in the bag. Super Isolette & Iskra for 6x6, and Super Ikonta & Moskva for 6x9. You can have them loaded with different film and pick the one you fancy for the day,...
The new camera is a 6x7 rangefinder folder. Built in meter etc. Leaf shutter, f3.5 lens. A few pictures of it are floating on the net.
If they price it reasonably, it might convince quite a few...
Tachihara 8x10, Sinaron S 300mm f5.6, 1/15s @ f5.6. Film is Fortepan 200 shot at 100.
(Sorry for the dirty scan)

hey, funny that, I did the installer for that driver, way, WAY back :D
buze, mac developer in disguise.
Take a CD case, and sandpaper it with the smallest sandpaper you can find. Works great!
I found that Delta 400 was very easy to scan too; somehow. I get better tonal range in the histogram than almost any other film (ie wideness of the histogram). Might be the color of the base, I don't...
Forget about the 300mm f5.6 Symmar S. It's /gigantic/ ! The poor crown will fold over backward :D
I think the limit for reasonable close focus is the 240mm, or a telephoto.
