We made it to the show yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jim, it was great to see your work displayed in such a nice space and I especially enjoyed seeing the portraits of you and June.
Roger
Jim, congratulations, I’m sure it will be a great show. I can’t join you on Saturday but it looks like the show will be up through April 10th so we might get a chance to see it. We’ll be in Oregon...
Congratulations, the show looks great, we are headed to Oregon, so who knows, a little side trip might be in order.
Roger
Jim, any reason you can’t swap the scales on the two shutters? The shutter on the 150 looks beat to heck, so I’d be inclined to swap the shutters, you just need to make sure you get the spacing...
Wow, that sure a beauty.
Roger
Andy, the video is private, I can’t view it.

Sounds like you may be missing the spacer ring, check out this link. https://skgrimes.com/product/retaining-ring-copal-3/ . I also add that’s it worth checking with SK Grimes on the aperture scale,...
Tuco, you’re knocking them out of the park, especially the sea stacks.

Well, considering that ginger bread is an approved building material used in home construction, it should make a fine lens board.
Roger
Bryan, this on is outstanding, you framed it perfectly.
Roger
Would it help to sensitive the board with potassium dichromate and expose it to UV?
Roger
Most retaining rings have an inner collar that fits into the hole in the lens board. Just measure the O.D. of the collar and add a few thousands for clearance.
Roger
Plus you can throw your dark cloth over the bellows for extra assurance.

I just measured a Eastman Kodak 2D 5x7 lens board and the exterior measures 4.495” square, 1/8” thick ant the interior measures 4.121”, 0.141” thick, so very close to your Gandolfi board and would...
Very nicely done.
Roger
I would definitely check my local hardware store, but if they didn’t have what I wanted I’d try McMaster Carr.

That’s where I bought mine. I did a quick check and didn’t see any currently listed, so you would need to contact him.
Another source would be S.K. Grimes....
Aka foamed PVC board.

Paul, both very nice, I really enjoy this type of forest scene.
Roger
“Above the Gorge” nice work here, great to see what one can do with Delta 3200.
Roger

I always mount to the same cotton rag board that I’m cutting the window mat out of and then use acid free foam core for a backing board. I generally have a reveal between the window and the print so...
Good point on the water bath, that’s how I’ve always used the BTZS tubes. It’s really hard to beat the water bath for even development.
Roger
Those tubes are manufactured and sold through “The View Camera Store”, although they show out of stock right now. Here a link to a thread on 5x8 development, see post #9 for an example of 5x7 tubes I...
Nice one Bryan!!! Looks like a big shiny Christmas ball.

Nice one Paul, love the shallow depth of field and how that lens renders the out of focus areas. Really makes the subject stand out. Also love persimmons, just got a box from my friends tree.

Austin, that Volvo shot is hilarious.

Jim, just downloaded GIMP today myself and played around with it a bit. I’ve been using Affinity Photo, but can’t figure out how to save Tif file that will open in Quadtone Rip. GIMP will save a Tif...

Roger
Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the article and the photographs.
Roger
Michael, Paul, Gabe, beautiful images!
Roger
Very nice, I especially like the background. I photograph a lot of cars primarily on the streets of San Francisco, and it’s always a treat when I get a nice pleasing background. Your choice of color...
