    Re: Schnieder 47Xl vs 58Xl

I've used both on a linhof master technika classic - they're both a pain, but the images are spectacular if you love ultrawide. I had a linhof selected 58mm, which might have been a really fine...

  5. Re: Professor of Photography - NYC - Position Announcement

Scott, that's correct - we now have several faculty who utilize photography in their work, but studio photography courses are currently being taught on a part-time basis by our artist-in-residence,...
  6. Re: Professor of Photography - NYC - Position Announcement

Candidates will probably need an MFA, but the MFA does not necessarily have to be in photography per se. Also, the MFA requirement could possibly be waived depending on exhibition history.

    And...

  8. Re: Contact vs. Digital print AND scanners for large format...

A lot of this has to do with philosophical/aesthetic questions regarding why you do photography / what you think photography is about / etc. Not to be testy, but there's a bit of a "film vs digital"...

    Re: Negative Scanning

I will baldly admit to this being somewhat about economics. It's basically like

    4000 dpi 8 bit scan
    OR
pay 50% more for a 3200 dpi 16 bit scan
    OR
pay twice as much for a 4000 dpi 16 bit...

    Negative Scanning

Please don't flame me for asking such a dumb question, but I've looked through the files and would like to get some new advice from the scanning experts on the forum.

  12. Re: flying with sheet films, recent experience.

just got back from Mexico - there and back, carried all my 4x5 gear (sans tripod, which was in luggage) on a carry-on, and they handchecked my quickloads without an issue.
  13. Re: feedback: long time Maxwell Screen users?

Two years with the Maxwell screen on a Linhof MT and still as good as new, which is to say, incredible. Tried a number of less expensive fresnels and ground glass options - sold them all when I...

    Re: Ultra-Wide Angle Lens Questions

long dead thread, but in case anyone is looking, my 2 cents: I have shot with the Schneider 58XL and traded it for the 47XL on my Master Technika, and found both to be incredibly sharp, and a huge...

Re: Old Ries or new Berlebach tripod?
