  1. Re: Rollei IR 400: my sheets are slightly larger than 4" x 5"?

I’ve been using 12 minutes at 70f with a 1:2:100 dilution. Found the time on the web somewhere, can’t seem to find it again though.

    Re: Looking for C41 tips!

I process mine in 1 gallon stainless steel tanks (8x10) with hangers in a wash tub of tempered water in my garage (at night). I only do sheet film, agitate continuously for development. I have a...
  5. Re: C-41 Separate Bleach and Fixer any kit options?

I would think not. You need the bleach to halogenate the silver and fixer to remove the silver halides. Better to buy c41 bleach and fixer. I use...
  6. Re: How many people Replenish developers vs. One Shot

I've used xtol replenished for a few years with good results, just tried pyrocat HD in glycol, really like the way the negatives print. May become my new standard.
  7. Re: Developing Portra - what chemistry do you use?

I'm using Fujifilm CN-16 Neg N1-MV developer, N2-R bleach, along with the fixer and stabilizer. Very easy to mix (single concentrate).
  8. Re: Scan and process then print v's print from negative

Excellent prints can be made with either method. I think it's a lot more work to get a good quality scan when compared to traditional prints. Once you have your processes dialed in I think it's a...
  9. Re: Getting the correct temperature while developing at home?

I use stainless steel developing tanks (2 gallon tanks that can hold 8x10 holders) my utility sink in my garage at night with Fuji Hunt Chemistry. As long as you can make your bathroom light tight...

    Re: Post Sepia/Sulphide Toner Fixing

Sulphide toning is done after fixing the print. As you mentioned, underfixed prints will have issues (I've used the Moersch vario toner without any issues) but the instructions say you should...
  13. Re: Setting up a color darkroom advice ? ( or talk me out of it :) )

I understand not wanting to ship across country. I can't find any Ra4 around St Louis so I'm stuck with shipping. I wonder if you can dilute the Kodak chemistry and get similar results. diluting...
  14. Re: Setting up a color darkroom advice ? ( or talk me out of it :) )

I've had good results with the arista ra-4 kit from freestyle and Fuji crystal archive paper. I actually dilute the developer and blix 1:4 and process for 4 min in each at 70f in trays.

    Re: Dip n' dunk 4x5

Haven't had any issues with kodak hangers in 8x10 tanks for HP5+ and TMY in replinished xtol. I use the same method as David, one cycle per minute for black and white films. Haven't tried C41 or E6...

  17. Re: Can 400 iso film blow up real big, real well?

Have you considered using flashbulbs? A used grafllite flashgun can be had for a song on Ebay, and GE#5 bulbs can be found for less than $0.20 each if you buy in quantity. I've yet to have one fail...

Even having a scanner it'd be difficult to scan every negative and transparency, at least while I still have little ones at home.

    Re: Drum or flat scan?

I love my Howtek 4500. It's a bit of work to get a good scan but the results are worth it. Here's an example taken on Velvia 100F when I was visiting England a little over a year ago:...

Re: How basic can I go?

    Re: Tmax 400 question

Re: Color film for portrait photography?

I agree with Frank on the Portra 400, fine grained, lots of exposure flexibility, and the skin tones are spot on.
