Chris - Good to know! I will be taking 25/50 iso film in 5x4 and 100/400 in...
Kav,
Thanks for your response, just what I was looking for. All the other threads I've looked at have been pretty negative about taking sheet film abroad.
I'm heading to the Simien Mountains...
All,
At the end of this month (April) I will be travelling to Ethiopia for a two week stay. I intend to take with me a Crown Graphic and a few boxes of b&w sheet film (Adox 25). I will be flying...
Thanks for all the responses. Really helpful!
Lots for me to try out.
You can imagine what I was confronted with when I initially typed cheap/free/simple photo editing software into google....
I don't have that, just the basic drivers. I will download it.
Perhaps having to pay out for Photoshop is unavoidable...
Hello,
I own an Epson 4990 scanner and I am looking for a cheaper and simpler software alternative to Photoshop.
Bear with me, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers and...
It's only for a short period until I can invest in a good high end LCD. I'm on a tight budget at the moment and I'm sure that for £100 and under a CRT is the way to go....I dread to think of the LCD...
Thanks for responses
Hello all,
I'm on a bit of a budget and I'm looking to buy a good CRT monitor. I'm looking to spend no more than £100.
Any suggestions of models?...is Trinitron a must? Any makes to avoid?
...
It was never my intention to label you an a****** I simply reused your words ;)
No, perhaps not idiotic but I just felt that "It does not come cheap" sends the wrong message to a 'newbie'. Sure...
I agree, although I think it works great both ways.
In regards to the Combi Plan, I have never really had a problem with sheet loading or with leaks. There is always a little excess that drips...
Be careful David! The last thing anyone wants is Bob from HP marketing on their case about proper/improper use of the Combi Plan! :D
I would suggest the Combi Plan for daylight work. Just as...
Greg, this is an asshole approach to a set of questions. Especially if the author of the thread admits to being a 'total beginner'.
"People want instant glory - it does not come...
Are the problem negatives related to a specific weather condition? ie. very cold conditions?
I haven't used one but I agree they do look pretty good. Did you buy it? That seems a good price.
I'm also interested in other peoples opinions on the device.
Renato, many thanks for clearing that up.
All the best.
Matthew
Thanks Renato,
I select a channel, select a grade, then input the exposure time I require. When I press expose the timer it actually starts counting down from a longer time (I input 2 secs and the...
I recently purchased this wonderful enlarger but I am having trouble getting it to do what I want. I have plenty of experience printing black and white, on a wide variety of enlargers. But the...
Ian. I have used the Adox 100 a fair amount, but have not yet tried the Fomapan 100. I have read a lot about its qualities, but I was interested in peoples opinions on the two films. Have you used...
Adox 100 or Fomapan 100.
Interested in peoples opinions as to which has the edge in the 'low price range' of 5x4 film.
Jesus Jim! I will never look at a Jobo drum in the same way again!...am I safe with a Combi Plan?? who knows
ok thanks, so it appears the colour change isn't too much of a problem. I will look into 'Dust Off'.
I have stored it in the original plastic bottle but it doesn't take long for the developer to turn into a dark brown colour. Do you store in plastic or glass?
Any tips for storing Rodinal?
I have used Adox 100 and 25 in Rodinal and haven't encountered this. How grey? what is the density of the fb+f?
I haven't ever used any Adox film that was more than a couple of months old after...
Len, I have noticed that my negative development is too contrasty even at shortened times and this may be due to my agitation technique (Based on my personal film developer combination.)
I invert...
Jerold, The temperature in my darkroom is ok, the fixer is at around 20degrees when diluted. It is getting cold over here, but english people tend to make a lot of fuss over nothing...we have a few...
Thanks Tony, I may be ok with the Schneider lenses then.
Cheers Richard.
The enlager comes with the baseboard (most likely the original one) so that should make life a bit easier.
I do agitate in the fixer, I haven't tried double bathing, I will investigate. Thanks.
I have been doing this test in daylight using unexposed film, just putting a bit in the fixer and watching. I'm always cautious about over fixing, so I run the test. The piece of film must have...
I have been testing for Adox 100 fixing times in Ilford Rapid fix;
- After three minutes in pure fixer the piece of film is almost clear but a very thin cloudy layer refuses to dissolve.
- I...
Two of the lenses are schneider, the enlarger and lenses come as a set that, as far as I know, was used regularly. So I guess the enlarger has been modified or adjusted to work with the lenses. This...
Minimal agitation, I only invert the tank three times each minute this takes about 5 seconds (very gentle inversions) this appears to be plenty, some people may do less. I work with Rodinal at 1:50.
Thanks pete
I believe that the lenses that come with it are the original ones supplied, so hopefully it will work just fine?....hopefully.
I am hoping to get hold of a MPP Micromatic enlarger from a friend who got it for free and has no use for it. I believe it has the condenser head for 5x4, it also comes with 50/80/150mm lenses. I...
Thanks mike,
I will have a look at that tripod. Luckily I have a Gitzo tripod that I can use until I raise some money, but it is so cumbersome, the Toyo looks tiny on top of it.
Thanks again...
Thankyou for all of your opinions and advice. Very much appreciated.
Matthew
I have moved down from 10x8 to 5x4 and I now own a Toyo 45AII. For use with my Wista Field 10x8 I had an extremely heavy (but cheap) Gitzo tripod, now I am shooting 5x4 I want to keep the weight down...
I am using Adox 25 and 100 (8x10) film processed in Rodinal using a Jobo Rotary Processor on a CPE base (Jobo 4531 drum). On a couple of occasions after processing I have been left with a blue streak...
