Re: Recommend a fast & cheap Rapid Rectilinear?

I have some lenses that I'm guessing were from some sort of TLR since there are two mounted on each board one lens with no iris. Both sets are Ilex Paragon "Portronic". There is a set that is 6 3/8"...

Re: B&J Rembrandt 5x7 looking for basic info

The 5x7 version may differ, but I just got an 8x10 Rembrandt Model 1 yesterday and it folds.

Re: Seeking more info on Burke & James Watson 5x7

Looking closely at the pictures of the camera up for auction it looks like the teeth on the focusing track go all the way to the back as though it should accept an extension, but I see no screw for...

Re: Seeking more info on Burke & James Watson 5x7

I like monorails and haven't counted them out. However, silly as it seems, I want the camera to have a certain look. I'm not going for historical accuracy or anything like that, but I do want it to...

Re: Seeking more info on Burke & James Watson 5x7

I'm eager, but will try to be patient. I really want swing on the front standard which rules out the Kodak 2D (I think). I do like the Agfa Anscos and I think some of them have all the movements....

Re: Seeking more info on Burke & James Watson 5x7

No, I haven't had a chance to try it out first hand. A friend in my neighborhood shoots wet plate. We have plans to get together this summer.

Faster is definitely better, of course. I'm guessing...

Re: Seeking more info on Burke & James Watson 5x7

I get access to the classifieds here and I'm watching it closely.
Of course, buying local is the absolute ideal so that I can personally check out the condition. Second best would be buying from a...

Seeking more info on Burke & James Watson 5x7

I'm on the hunt for a camera for wet plate portrait work. I'm looking at a B&J Watson 5x7 (that also has a 4x5 reducing back) on the auction site. I've dug up a little information on the camera but...

Re: Just getting started in St. Paul, MN

I like it. If one wants to do something enough, a way will be found.

Re: Just getting started in St. Paul, MN

I'm undecided, but am leaning towards shooting film for a bit first. I don't have darkroom access, so it would all be handed over after shooting. It makes sense to learn the basic camera techniques...

Just getting started in St. Paul, MN

I've been using 35mm film cameras since I was young (I'm still feeling pretty young at 35,though). I also went digital about 4 years ago. I make pictures daily, but my main role in life currently is...
