    Tempting!

However it's not like the standard screen isn't already pricey http://www.runemasterstudios.com/graemlins/images/doh.gif

Re: Chamonix 45-N1 with Teak wood

There is now concern over the use of Teak if it is certified. Just because certified sustainable grown teak is produced does not mean forests are not being harvested as well. One needs to get...
  9. Re: Focusing problems with the fresnel groundglass on the Chamonix 45N-1?

I was able to get the same (sharp focus) result by just removing the fresnel. Though I am now looking to replace the entire GG with either an Ebony or a Maxwell.
  10. Re: Ebony Focusing (Fresnel) Screen on Chamonix 4x5?

    Steve,

Keep in mind, user experience (joy) is also an important part of what we do - aside from focus.

Re: Chamonix 45-N1 with Teak wood

Matt, the 4x5 pictures currently on the Chamonix site feature Walnut. I have a Walnut model (possibly one of the very last), which I'm delighted.
  12. Re: Ebony Focusing (Fresnel) Screen on Chamonix 4x5?

Have you tried the Ebony WA Focusing screen?
  13. Re: Ebony Focusing (Fresnel) Screen on Chamonix 4x5?

I've only had one opportunity to focus with an Ebony. It was the regular fresnel/GG.
It was fine to my eyes.

I need a fresnel, and the Chamonix fresnel throws the focus off with WA (as has been...
  14. Ebony Focusing (Fresnel) Screen on Chamonix 4x5?

Hugo told me someone had success using the Ebony focusing screen in place of the OEM Chamonix GG (without the OEM Chamonix Fresnel).

    Anyone else try this successfully?

Re: Chamonix 45-N1 with Teak wood

I spoke with Hugo, tonight. The change from Walnut is a result of low stock on cured wood, as I suspected. Apparently they started curing teak some time ago. The next upgraded 4x5 may include more...

    Chamonix 45-N1 with Teak wood

  28. Re: Focusing problems with the fresnel groundglass on the Chamonix 45N-1?

I'm not sure why you would need to shim the GG on the Chamonix - unless it is truly uneven and the shims are just on one or two sides for balance. On my film back the frsenel sits in a...

I'm not a collector or even really into all the various camera models. To date I've used Sinar (4x5 & 8x10) Horseman 4x5, and my Chamonix 4x5. Can't recall if the first two used fresnel lenses. My...
