    Opinions of 65mm f8 SA

I made some photos on my 6x7 rollfilm back at f8. Shots were perfectly sharp. However, I did not do any similair shots on 4x5 films. I usually use f16 or smaller. An old habit, probably :)

Another vote for 8/65 SA. Mine is 35 years old, shutter was cleaned and now it is like new. Lens is very sharp an have nice contrast, I am very happy with it. My friend also made me an adapter ring...

  4. Zeiss Jena Tessar and Hanza enlarging lenses

I really don't know. Lens has the same screw mount as enlarging lenses for smaller format and also design is very similair. It can not be mounted on shutter, at least the one which is mounted between...
  5. Zeiss Jena Tessar and Hanza enlarging lenses

Thank you, Arne. If this is really 60 years old lens, it looks suprisingly 'fresh'. Just look at the pictures.
  6. Zeiss Jena Tessar and Hanza enlarging lenses

My enlager is a very simple design and with a small modification I can mount any lens. I uploaded some photos of Tessar here:

Ebay is also a good option. In fact, I've been thinking about this option. But when I calculate all the costs and even duty fees (which my goverment takes for everything over 20$), I have to add at...
  8. Zeiss Jena Tessar and Hanza enlarging lenses

Thank you both for your answers. Lens coating is hard to define, it is probably single coated. But this coating is not blue or green, it is like light yellow-brown. It is definitely not multicoated....

    Hallo,

I have the opportunity to buy these enlarging lenses: Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 6.3/21cm and E-Hanza 4.5/135mm for about 50$ each. I just don't know if they are good enough to make prints up...

    Filter thread/Cokin P?

I had the same problem and I just bought 40.5-52 stepping ring, I think from Kaiser, Germany. It is not quite top quality, but I never had any problems unscrewing it. And Cokin makes P ring for...

Why are we so concerned about sharpness?

I like LF mainly because of its rich tonal range, not just because of sharpness. I found modern lenses sometimes even too sharp for portraits and I prefer the results from 40+ years old lenses. ...

    Linhof Super Technika 23

  17. Ilford XP2 Super C41 chromagenic film - comments please?

    5x7 lenses

I like SA 8/121, which is similair to 24mm at 35mm format. And this lense also allows you a lot of movements. Sironar N 5.6/180 is moderate wide angle with some movements, but incredibly sharp, for...
  20. What would I need for large format Macro Photography

There is one problem using enlarging lenses. Minimum aperture is often f16 or f22 which is usually not enough at larger magnifications. For macro work I rather use ordinary LF lenses mounted...

Objective evaluation of the 5x7 format?
