Re: Mounting mirrorless camera as digital back

Widest lest I have is 90mm Fujinon f8. I was planning on experimenting mostly with a Verito. I think it's 180mm. I never got a chance to really use it before because it had no shutter (I used a...

Re: Mounting mirrorless camera as digital back

Thanks! The Instructables website shows me the How. As to the Why (Kirk's question), it's because I like taking portraits that way, and I want to experiment with lenses that I wouldn't otherwise be...

Mounting mirrorless camera as digital back

It seems that it should be possible to mount a small digital camera to use as a back of 4x5. Has anyone ever done this? I don't want to damage the digital camera in the process!
  4. Any photo events/workshops/classes in the North East July 1-4?

I was wondering whether there were any good events scheduled for the first week of July, in the North East (Connecticut/NY/RI/NH).

    Re: Starting in Stock Photography

I checked out iStockphoto. Most (by a good margin) of the photos I saw there are not what visitors to this site would deem interesting. What is the target audience of microstock sites?

    Re: Starting in Stock Photography

I guess since digital photos last for ever, this process could go on with photos accumulating in ever greater numbers until photos are cheaper than air.

    What exactly is microstock?

    Starting in Stock Photography

I was wondering whether any one has general, big picture advice about stock photography as a way to supplement income.

Re: Fuji Color Negative 4x5 Film??

Curious why B&H does not import it as they used to import all sorts of film.
  12. Re: Building a Photoshop machine for editing BIG files

On re-reading your question, another easy solution is to have a cheap computer for scanning and a fancy Win 7 64bit machine for editing. Unless Vuescan makes drivers for drum scanners.
  13. Re: Building a Photoshop machine for editing BIG files

I agree with whoever said that you need lots of RAM, and 32bit Windows has a RAM limit, if I remember correctly.

My copy of Win 7 came with both 64 bit and 32 bit CDs, so you can install 32-bit...

    Fuji Color Negative 4x5 Film??

I did not find any Fuji color negative film (4x5) listed at B&H. Is it just temporary, or has this been discontinued?

Does anyone know if there is a difference between LEE and Calumet 4x6 graduated ND filters (I think both come with soft or hard edge). Thank you.

Re: the role of harsh criticism......

Without hearing the criticism of others you would never learn to be critical of your work, which is what you need to grow as a certain type of artist.

On the other hand, that's not enough. You...
  22. Re: Differences Between the "Look" of Film & Digital Capture?

I've read that some people photograph the IT-8 target with the negative film of their choosing, and that exposure effectively becomes a kind of profile of the negative.
