I really like this composition. Thanks for sharing.
I really like this. I get a strong "Nighthawks" vibe from it.
32 states isn't bad given there were, apparently, only 11 original colonies
As with 35mm lenses, you focus a large format cameras with visible light so you normally have to compensate if you're shooting IR film. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have to with your lens. This...
According to the page at the link below, a red R on some early 35mm lenses indicated, as Darin mentioned above, improved IR focus.

I pinch the end if the film between my thumb and either my index or middle finger to pick up a single sheet, and have never damaged a piece of film this way. (My experience includes commonly...
A couple of questions that might help diagnose what's going on: Does the image get unsharp abruptly, or does it "fade" from sharp to fuzzy. Is the edge of the fuzzy area parallel with the edge of...
The first question that comes to my mind: Is the image sharp when you view it on the ground glass with a loupe? If it's sharp on the ground glass but fuzzy on the film, you've got a misalignment...
Aristo has an 8x10 cold light head, model 810-C-V54-110V, for $573. It's made for an Elwood enlarger, but would be simple enough to adapt. However, my plan is to build something like you've got,...
It will develop a patina.
And it will be amazing! Congratulations.
I really liked 4x5 Acros, in both Rodinal and Pyrocat. Unfortunately, Fuji punches a small hole in the corner of the film (for hanging the film up to dry). The hole is in the image area, and is the...
The bellows on the Shen-Hao and the Tachihara both extend about the same amount, unless you move the front standard of the Shen-Hao forward. Then you can get out to 360mm. It's rock solid extended...
Your best bet is to contact Fuji's European arm (http://www.fujifilm.eu/) and ask them who carries the film.
I can't speak to a comparison of the Shen-Hao back and the Horseman, but the film flatness of the Shen-Hao back is excellent. It's a very basic device, but I find that it works wonderfully.
The seller ended the auction early because of an error in the listing. It must not have been a lens. I wonder what it is...
I use a Berlebach 4032 with my Calumet Green Monster. It's a rock-solid combination.
Different strokes... I probably use a roll film holder half of the times that I go out. Not exclusively, but my roll film holder does get a lot of use.
The Compound #3 that happens to be sitting next to me has 15 blades.
Another vote for the Docter Germinar 240/9. Just a great lens. (Now, if SKGrimes will just get me my shutter before I die of old age...)
Thanks for the ideas. I'll open it up and watch how it works...given what I see and the hints you've offered, I should be able to figure it out.
Oh, well...mine doesn't have the switch. Thanks anyway.
Any hints on how to disable the reversing action of the base? (I'm electronically challenged, but willing to learn.)
Thanks!

Jergen Kreckel ("certo6") put up the following page about a lens that's in less than perfect condition. For some reason, it just makes me smile:

I bought a large changing bag (I'm not sure from where, as it was a few years ago) that's about 36" x 44". I was able to use it for 8x10 in a pinch, but it was tight and careful planning was...
Experience is a great teacher. :)
Check the front of your camera for pinholes. It sounds like you've got a pinhole somewhere up there that's casting the image of the rail onto your film. Leave the lensboard and lens on the camera...
I've had my B9180 for well over a year with no problems. I waste a lot less ink than I used to with various Epson printers, running them through head cleaning cycles. I understand that the newer...
I purchased a mounted lens on eBay, and I couldn't get the retaining ring off. (I have the SK Grimes adjustable wrench...a great tool...but even it wouldn't shift the ring.) I put the whole...
24 4x5
5 5x7 (just starting out with this format)
15 8x10
The one on the left looks like an 8x10 drum. As long as it's a print drum, it'll work fine. I'm going to assume that you've studied the article on developing film on the home page...
I just measured a frame from my RB67. It's 2.25 x 2.625...the same as you're getting from your RH10.
Can you pull the front of the bellows forward? On many bellows there are rings on top that can be placed around a post on the top of the front standard. These are generally used when bellows are...
Chris-
If you have experience in 35mm photography, you can use it to help you with lens selection in 4x5. The two formats have different aspect ratios (35mm is longer/narrower than 4x5) so...
I think you've got the pro's and con's mostly right, but am surprised that you find positioning the front standard of the Shen-Hao forward to not be solid. I've hung a 300mm Symmar (a 1Kg lens) on...
I bought two 2XLXT, v-neck t-shirts. I put a black one inside of a white one and sewed the together into a 2-layer shirt. The v-neck is perfect, as it fits over the back of my various 4x5 cameras...
I've been wearing progressives for about 10 years. I wore regular bifocals for one year before I switched to the progressives. When I first put on the progressives, I thought I was going to hurl...
Interestingly, the same buyer bought another Xenotar 150/2.8 in early December: 290184101617. (I'm not claiming that this means anything at all...I just find it interesting.)
You can pick up electronic kitchen timers for a few bucks. You just enter the time that you want, start the exposure and start the timer. The timer counts down so you can check it if you're...
