Hi John:
I understand what you are describing. I would suggest an alternative solution. A simple 1" web strap around 6 to 8 inches in length with bayonet male and female fasteners. This would...
Done and done. :o

[QUOTE=Kirk Gittings;1693132]I use mine on every shoot. I have two of them and load them into my PBP backpack. I cut down a thing of post-it-notes and stick them in the pocket with a short pencil. I...
No problem. I can fabricate one for you. I use 1.5" wide hook and 1.5" loop with a 'D' ring on each end. How about $3.00 each?
The dilemma is that making the packs in the US is extremely expensive. Making in Asia requires huge growth to keep the manufacturer interested in your business. I do have a small supply of the lens...
Now you are going to test my memory! I had to go back to my design notes to find it. That is polystyrene.
Now that is max use!!!!! I love it!!! :)
Thanks for the picture. That certainly ID's the film! :) It would be an easy customization to sew a patch of Loop to the front cover. I will give this some thought. I appreciate your input!
Thanks for that info. Mine look like they have been through the war but the inner pockets are still sound and are protecting the film holders which is my primary concern. Am I correct that it is...
Hi Marc:
Is it the velcro hook that is tired or the loop? The hook would be easily replaced. Not so the loop.
Bruce
Could you post a picture of your modification. My moddled old brain can't picture what you are describing. :)
Interesting. I have always loaded each compartment. Have you considered a film holder-sized mat board for the empty pockets. You would save the weight but still have the needed stiffness to close...
I continue to manufacture small quantities of the Cascade film holder cases. As many of you know, this forum played a big roll in developing that product line. I have, however, never done a follow...
Here's a PDF file for the zone system sticker for Pentax spotmeter.

I still produce the Cascade film holder cases for 4x5, 5x7 and 8x10. Look in the "Forum: For Sale - Member-made LF Gear and Accessories" section of this forum.

They are not discontinued. Check "Community" section under "Forum: For Sale - Member-made LF Gear and Accessories" Post: "New Batch of Cascade Film Holder Cases in 4x5, 5x7 and 8x10"
I am back in my shop now. You can use private messaging to contact me.

Still live in Minnesota (although in Florida until March 1, 2020.) I will post an update when I am back in my shop.
Bruce (aka Photobackpacker)
Yes, I am still making them. My bride of 50 summers and I are snowbirding in Florida until March 1. I will be able to accept order then.

The problem is that these top-notch technical backpacks are not front panel openers. If you are willing to handle your kit from a top loader you are all set. The current crop of back/oyster openers...
Good info, Sal. I gave my Kelty Cache hauler to my son in law and he swears by it for hauling quartered elk out of the field. External frame packs are outstanding for heavy loads.
If you are physically fit and covering only short distances, any backpack that holds and protects your gear will do.
If you are covering longer distances and/or navigating challenging terrain you...

Hi Peter:
Initially, I started sewing the D rings on the Cascade cases when the shoulder strap was ordered with the FHC. The Velcro version allowed me to meet the requests for the hundreds that...
[QUOTE=gnuyork;1472538]I don't have the cascade film holders, but are you the one that made the camera case and lens cases? If so, I love them. I would like the have some film
I am the one. Glad...
Hi John:
You have stumbled onto the issue I am debating. Should I add the expense of adding permanently affixed 'D' rings or rely on an accessory that is fully an accessory. I am planning to...
Thanks, Eric. I appreciate your confidence and input.
Bruce
Gotcha. I understand.
Thanks for the input.

Thenks, Jerry. The force exerted on the straps are a sheering force rather than a parting force. My only concern was that the system would be weakened with successive attachment and detachment. ...
I am contemplating some limited production of the Cascade Film Holder Cases. In years past, I sold detachable shoulder straps as an accessory that attached to the case via the velcro accessory strip...
You are correct. The frame pack is the freight hauler. It is not compact, elegant, easily stowed nor airline carry-on compatible. It is like comparing a SUV to a Mack Truck. Internal frame packs...
When Drew uses the term "real backpacks" he is referring to true "technical backpacks." These backpacks have frame sheets (the load bearing spine of the pack) that have been engineered,...
I still have single lens cases for lenses mounted on 110mm square (4.3") boards if anyone is interested.
Bruce
Hi Bob:
Glad to see you are still available for expert advice!! I am happy to hear it is normal I appreciate it!!
All the best,
Bruce
When I lower the front standard on my MT2K using the lever and the standard reaches its lowest point, the lever disengages the geared rack and the gear attached to the lever simply free-spins. Is...
An easy way to make these is to sew the material inside out to fit the board. Reverse and slide the coroplast inside the envelope. You will need to sew several lines of stiching on either side of...
To make the backerboards, I used 4mm corrugated plastic sheets available at sign shops. The loop material I used was known as sign cloth. If you are interested, I still have some of this sign cloth...
I have a good supply of cases for lenses on 4x4 boards.
