  1. Re: Zone Vl 5x4 NEW....do I use it or get a user and just look at it?

Well circumstances change and so does the fate of my beautiful Zone VI 4x5. I am having to step back from film photography for a while so I have decided that the camera should be sold on to someone...

    Re: Darkroom sink plans

Whilst I don't have one myself I have seen large sinks in a number of darkrooms constructed from ply with a couple of layers of fibreglass and epoxy. As long as the wooden construction is...
  3. Re: Info needed on cement used in 90mm Angulon

Hi Steven, I've been following your exploits with balsam with interest and it is that which tempted me to look at this Angulon. The seperation is scallop shaped from one edge to almost the centre....
  4. Re: Devere Freestanding Enlarger help please 504 or 507 (pref 507 info if possible).

They both use exactly the same column (as does the 108) so will require the same amount of headroom. You will need about 8ft to clear the column. I'll dig out my 504 manual and get the exact...
  5. Re: Info needed on cement used in 90mm Angulon

Thanks for the info and suggestions. Think I'll try a couple of shots first to see how bad it is. If clearly visible thinkI'll try re doing the balsam. If I mess up there are plenty around. Just seen...

  7. Paterson MOD54 5X4 film insert for Paterson tanks.

Has anyone tried the ralatively new MOD54 film insert for the Paterson system developing tanks? This item allows 6 sheets of 5X4 film to be developed in a standard 3 reel Paterson tank. This appears...
  8. Info needed on cement used in 90mm Angulon

I have a little 90mm f9 Angulon in a Compur shutter. I think it has been dropped as one of the aperture blades has been displaced (which I can deal with) and there is some seperation between two...
  9. Re: Devere Freestanding Enlarger help please 504 or 507 (pref 507 info if possible).

There are a few De Veres on Ebay UK at the moment, mostly 504s but there is a free standing 507 with drop table. The bench models will allow you to make 20X24inch prints, with the appropriate lens in...
  10. Re: Theoretical digital sensor equivalent to 8x10?

I am actually getting the cash together to purchase a D800. I am sure it will be a satisfactory advancement over my current Pentax DSLR, and I'll be able to use my existing AF Nikkors. When I first...
  11. Re: Theoretical digital sensor equivalent to 8x10?

Getting away from the science and math of this thread a similar type of argument/discussion has broken out in the 35mm arena since the arrival of the full frame sensor Nikon D800/800E. Advocates of...
  12. Re: My ultimate Christmas wish I think.....

Ah well at least we were right. Spent too much time looking at the pics that I didn't get round to reading the blurb.
  13. Re: My ultimate Christmas wish I think.....

I think Emil is correct. I don't think Fred and Arthur used anything but polished brass for the metalwork on the "real" Gandolfis. The knobs also look far too modern as well.
  14. Crazy film pricing on "the" auction site...

Thanks Richard for adding to this discussion, which I didn't expect to arouse as much interest as it has. I have to admit that monetry value wasn't really a consideration when I put up the post. I...

  18. Re: Zone Vl 5x4 NEW....do I use it or get a user and just look at it?

Definately some polarised views on this. I actually have an old Kodak half plate (ex RAF) I am putting into working order with every intention to use, although it is a bit of a brute. In the meantime...
  19. Re: Zone Vl 5x4 NEW....do I use it or get a user and just look at it?

I like this sentiment Robert. I think the general concensus is coming down on the use it side. I must admit I don't really like the idea of keeping it for so long only my son may benefit from it's...
  20. Re: Zone Vl 5x4 NEW....do I use it or get a user and just look at it?

It is still in it's original box Ken complete with original "typed" instruction sheet. I must admit I am tempted to start using it. Just had a thought Christie's, the auction people, hold specific...

    Ed Burtynsky

I had never really been a fan of Burtynsky's work, feeling it was a sort of large format record making, until last night. Here in good ole Blighty we were treated to an hour long documentary on the...
  22. Zone Vl 5x4 NEW....do I use it or get a user and just look at it?

Some years ago I bought a new Zone Vl 5x4 camera from a UK dealer who had never even put it on display. It is the original Fred Picker designed one with the gold plated hardware etc.. I take it out...

It seems like there is an interest so I'll look a bit further. I think the problem for the guy on the APUG forum was using RGB LEDs. I find there is always overlap between the colours and they are...

  27. Re: Ross 16" Apo Process Xpress info

Thanks Dan....I did wonder if that formula had a real name. Does plasmat cover all 6/4 symetricals or just those such as these Ross lenses (as well as the similar Symars, G-Clarons, Sironars etc.)...
  28. Re: Ross 16" Apo Process Xpress info

The info I have on the Ross process lenses covers the whole group - 9.5in. to 48in. Aperture is listed as f10 - f12.5 and field coverage 34 - 37 degrees. They are symetrical 6 element 4 group lenses...

    Re: 11"/6,5 Dallmeyer Dallon

    Hi Soeren

The angle of coverage for the Dallon is listed at 30degrees (Cox) so diagonal coverage about 5.9inches (approx 150mm). This would just cover the old 3.1/2in x 4.1/2in plate size but not...
