Re: Canham 8x10 traditional serial number

If you do call Canham and leave a number, you will get a call back. Two of the nicest phone conversations I ever had with a vendor have been with Keith.

I have an 8x10 Traditional purchased new...
  3. Re: Caltar II - N 210mm vs schneider Symmar-S 210mm

You got a very good deal. A functioning Copal #1 shutter by itself is worth at least that much.

  4. Re: Widest Angle Lenses Possible For 8x10 120?

My widest lens for 8x10 is a Berthiot Perigraphe 120. It's a tiny lens, two cemented triplets. Mine is coated. At f:14, it's not the brightest lens for focussing, but it provides an inch of...

    Re: Cable Release

Gepe releases (at least the ones I have) have long throws. Mine work fine with large Alphax and Ilex Universal shutters, which require quite a long throw to fire.

Re: David Muench moves from LF to MFT (?)

Robert Adams work often really depresses me, but at the same time there is something I find beautiful and entrancing in many of his images. I just looked at some of his work on pbs.org, and even...

    Re: Cable Release

Gepe and Linhof both make very good, durable cable releases. The Gepe ones are more economical, but the Linhof releases are Linhof, what more needs to be said.

Re: What's a good buy on a simple light meter?

The Gossen Luna Pro SBC and Luna Pro F meters (at least the later ones of this model) use a regular 9 volt battery, are durable, and service is available if needed. I've seen them both go for under...

Re: Options for a lightweight folding 4x5 Camera

That is what the current Tachihara's weigh. The early ones like mine, without the rear focus mechanism and sturdier rear folding hardware weigh about 3.3 lbs.

    Re: New Portra 400 Film

This is part of the reason one-shot cameras with working pellicles are very much in demand these days. I believe Sandy King has one.

Re: Options for a lightweight folding 4x5 Camera

In your price range, it would be tough to beat a used Tachihara or Ikeda. Both are excellent cameras. I have a Tachihara that is still working well after 32 years.

Re: phillips compact ii: worth it?

One of the main reasons there is less flex in the rear standard of the JMC810 than in the MQC57 or DLC45 is that the JMC810 rear standard has no swing or shift, only tilt.
