Are you an expert large format photographer? Do you have years of experience working in a chemical darkroom? Do you like to help other photographers?
If so, I would love if you could help us...
In fact, my understanding was that the US had introduced the "e-Passport" (the passport with a biometric chip inside) and "invited" all countries in the world to adhere to the new format.
I had my...
I am European and I have been living in the US for the past 9 years. I have been fingerprinted and verbally abused by the immigration officers every single time I left and came back to the US since...
Thanks! I hope the car AC doesn't break in the middle of the Death Valley! Hehehe..
I like the file box idea, but I like even more the idea of a large cheap Walmart cooler to seat in the trunk. Not...
Hehehe... you are totally right :-) see my post few mins ago describing the actual trip in a little more details
That's how my Canon 5D will travel :-)
Because you brought up the heat thing, and because I will be driving through places like the Death Valley all day long, do you suggest to actually have cooling packs inside the cooler as well? I know...
Well thank you all for your many replies! Went to the city today and wasn't expecting to come back to so many replies :-)
Yes, you are right, my bad English tricked me again: by "entire US" i mean...
I am off to a 3000 miles road trip through the entire US this summer and, while I have a camera bag that will fit all my digital gear and my closed 4x5, I would really like to find a simple padded...
Domenico,
if you still read this thread, let me tell you that you find me in total agreement with your ideas. Please don't take this message as me trying to convince you to come back... feel free...
Classic of your style... gorgeous
What a wonderful capture of the essence of Venice...
Was there fog or is this all due to your processing of the negative and the printing?
Is this the scan of a print or a negative?
Ciao...
I am gonna add one question to this thread since we have a group of people here all using uniroller and the print drum. Which reels can be used inside this drum (if any) of 120/135? Is it better to...
From other posts I understood that you are not supposed to load 6 per reel. Even thought it can fit physically 6, the space in between would be too tight to allow a good development. Most people load...
Perfect! Thank you all for the precious information.
1) If you use the Uniroller with a print drum to develop four 4x5 negatives at a time, can you share with me what trick did you use to keep the negatives from sliding on each others? I did read the...
I have to ask... you didn't know how long the ceremony was going to last, you measured the light with a light meter and you got some reading... how do you go into translating that into this perfect...
(alert: newbie question!)
so I was just playing around to get familiar with the movements and I noticed that the ground glass is *very* dim. I was at home and pointing the camera at a cup that was...
Which is an even cooler surprise, especially because it arrived the day in which I got my marriage license, exactly a week before my wedding... when I was absolutely not even thinking about the...
I guess the October batch has been already shipped! Because today, to my big surprise I finally got my beautiful Chamonix 45n1!

Very sad decision. I haven't participated actively in this "experiment" since I am a pretty new user, but I observed 2 things that I largely admired about the lounge and its members:
1) the fact...
And I badly miss a darkroom... I wish I had the space to build a small one for learning to print black and white. I haven't even gotten my first LF camera yet (lens, films, holders and chemicals are...
Hi Carlo!
Welcome to the LFPF! You know I love your work and your scans ;-)
How's life in Verona today? I am listening to NPR (National Public Radio) interviews about the economy and find really...
Thaks for the info... I wonder how they can do that and at the same time insure the package for 700+$... they are insuring it, aren't they?
Slightly OT: Does anyone know how much will US customs charge for the Chamonix 45n1? Will they call at home and accept credit cards? I have never purchased any large items from abroad and I have no...
The only difference between a 4x5 negative (or positive) film and a smaller format is purely its size. This of course means that you can scan the 4x5 at a lower DPI which will give you better results...
Both polaroid and Fuji instant films have a piece of negative film inside and chemicals that develop the negative and print it onto a special kind of paper.
BAD NEWS: when you opened a Polaroid you...
One more thing... because of your digital background you will miss "chimping" as a way to learn from your mistakes. The only alternative in LF is to use instant films. Polaroids are discontinued, but...
Lee,
coming from the same position you are (5D owner) and having given a try to medium format with a Hasselblad I realized that I really wanted to move into LF to learn more about the essence of...
Interesting... 4 weeks from Sept 6th is Oct 4th, which in Italy is celebrated as the day of Saint Francis (who is the patron of our Country). Sounds like my new camera was destined to be born on a...
I wrote my previous comment three times before actually posting it... The reason being that in most of the other online communities I participate into, excessive praising is very common. Go to...
This pretty much is my hope and the answer to my rambling in my previous post. This is what I hope will teach me a lot more about photography, driving me slowly into the place you are at right now:

Any updates about the September batch of 45n1?
:)
Well I am going to ask you again one question from the interview...
When did you realize that you were not just an amateur... that you had talent... how did you understand that you could...
Thank you for the good read Domenico. It's nice to learn about your perspective on photography (no pun intended).
I wonder how much time will take me to get to this point... so far I don't...
So the fresnel is just a sheet of plastic? Easy to cut? Cool, then it's not a hard-to-fix problem...
I am getting impatient here. Every single piece I ordered for the 45n1 arrived... I have read...
That would be wonderful indeed! While it would be a great self-advertisement for those cameras, the words "Himalaya", "photography" and "large format" would work great on Google to bring more people...
One more reason to be sorry to not be able to come there! I love San Francisco and Northern California... Good luck with the auction!
sorry, had no idea Carmel was a place name... I thought it was a person's name... I go hide in the corner now
yep i saw the phone and email but the address sounded like it could have been pretty...
Funny how the linked page mentions everything except the city where this is being held...
I noticed that is a tendency of most photographers' websites nowadays as well... everyone wants to...
