    Re: here is an idea

    Hi Eddie,
Wer've ya been? I'll go along with this idea, but is the section really necessary? I just can't make my mind up.

    Re: Tominon in "Copal Polaroid"

    Hi Stefan,
I can't remember which Tominons I have but I know that all mine just screw into the front of the Polaroid Copal shutter that I use with them. If you have a G-Claron in barrel just...

    Re: Custom Bellows UK

They're a great company. They made me RED bellows for my 1926/27 5x7 Ansco. It's admired everywhere I take it.

  5. Re: Agfa Ansco 8x10 (pre war) made from which kind of wood?

    cd,
I doubt that this will contribute to the thread but I have a 1926/27 Ansco (pre Agfa Ansco) and it has no front tilt but the front rise and fall is geared.
    Pete.
  6. Re: Distilled vrs. Deionized water for developer

I've used both and as far as I can see the only difference is the price. Over here de-ionised is cheaper and that's what I use. Used as a final rinse I never have a streak problem either.

    Tri-X in Chicago

Help, my son is in New York and I asked him to call into B&H and get me some 4x5 Tri-X. It seems that there were too many bars between his hotel and B&H, he got there too late. He will be on his way...

Re: Small shutter for brass Petzval

If you glued a 62 (?) mm srep up ring to the front of the lens you could screw a Copal 3 to the front of the lens.

  12. Re: Please help identify this ANSCO camera. Only 4 Photos...

My 1926/1927 5x7 Ansco cost me $100 from a member here BUT I had to get new bellows for £100 UKP. My 5x7 doesn't have a seperate extension rail, it's built in and this 8x10 looks the same. I wouldn't...

Re: Help needed to identify Ansco camera

I have a 1926/27 Ansco 5x7 and it's in natural wood and brass. I would suggest that you've got an Agfa Ansco. My camera appears to be a typical "small town" portrait camera as it has no front tilt...

    Re: Teen photographer

I bought a Burke & James from a fellow forum member about 5 or 6 years ago for $250. It has 4x5 & 5x7 backs and is great. If you're short of readies I would recommend a 150mm lens and a Kodak Ektar...
  18. Re: Old brass lenses - what was the original finish like?

I can only talk about what we used to do in the early 1960's (God I'm bloody old!!!). The brass to be laquered (not varnished, varnish was for wood) was either polished or grained. It was then washed...

  22. Re: Should there be an "Other" section in For Sale/Trade?

Re: Questions about Burke and James 8x10

Re: Why no love for the 5x7?

It's a great format. I use my 4x5 / 5x7 B&J and if I dont need front tilt I've got a beautiful 1926 / 1927 Ansco with both backs as well. I just wish that my 90mm SA would fit them.
