Re: durst power supply EST 1000N

I have rebuild mine with a arduino, some relay's and a PWM module.
    Some pictures.

The biggest problem is starting the cold lamp. If it’s cold it is almost a sort circuit.

The EST2000 draws 1,62 kW switched to 1000 watt. But as a result of it's power factor it still takes almost 10 A

Re: Paper tables for Durst Pictograph

To calibrate you can make a print with a step-wedge. First calibrate the grade 2,5 to match the density 0,70 from the step-wedge with the print. Alter the exposure the way it is described in the...

The only thing that is shared are the light bulb and the reflector. By the way the reflector(s) will by the most problematic in the future to maintain.
  6. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

You don't want to see one IRL. Maintaining one will give you a real headache. Last year I gave op on my last electronically controlled Durst. I am back to a bare essential 1840.

The light source of a 2506 is a electronically controlled closed loop light source with filters controlled by stepping motors. That is a very different beast.

Do you have a closeup photo of the...

AFAIK the rails required for the 1840 is the same as for the 2506.

Re: Opinions on upgrading from 4x5 to 8x10

Once upon a time I had a Sinar p2 8x10 and the money to buy boxes of Polaroid. Oh Boy that was a treatment  But I also remember dragging a heavy weight through Italian mud in Tuscany. :(

  18. Re: Is it a linear progression between 90mm and 150mm?

Not with a 90mm example. But it gives a impression from different focal lengths on 4x5"

  19. Re: Is it a linear progression between 90mm and 150mm?

    It’s certenly not linear.
A 90mm on 4x5” will give a horizontal angle of view of 66 degrees. A 150mm on 4x5” will give a horizontal angle of view of 43 degrees. The "middle" lens should give 54,5...
  20. Re: Is it a linear progression between 90mm and 150mm?

If you take a picture with a 90mm lens and crop it to the view from a 115mm lens you will be using ±77% of your film surface. It's the same for a picture cropped from a 115mm lens to the view from a...

The exit pupil size of a normal color head is slightly bigger than a multigraph. The multigraph head has a build in shutter. The boxes are made accordly to the exit pupils.

A 300mm f5,6 has a max aperture diameter 300/5,6=53,57mm. A 300mm f9 has a max aperture diameter 300/9=33,33mm. That's why you need larger shutter for the first lens.
