Re: Time Savers in the Field

    Some really great tips here.

Someone mentioned using reading glass to focus with. I had a pair of +4 power reading glasses made specifically for this. I keep them in my pocket case all the time...

Re: To anyone with the new View Camera

    Steve,

In my message I explicitly stated that my remark WAS NOT intended to dis either you or View Camera. The intent of my post was to imply how good Bill Zorn's original prints are. That's all. ...

Re: To anyone with the new View Camera

I've viewed a lot of Bill's prints and they are extremely well printed. The repros in VC are rubish compared to the original. And please my remarks are not intended to be a put down of Steve or VC,...

    Re: Large Format Journal

I don't know who is responsible for what in that particular article but if you look at Jeremy's photo on page 61 it is pixelated and diagonals have jaggies. I assume from looking at Matt's web site...

    Re: Scanning Debate.

Okay I'll bite. Why is PS only 15 bits?

BTW, I agree with your post completely. I scan for the most information and then do adjustments in PS. I don't understand why folks make scanning more...

    Re: Large Format Journal

    [QUOTE=Doug Howk;185514]
Quality of B&W images: but digitized B&W images always seem to lack good tonal range, and are always a weak imitation of the real print.

    Re: Large Format Journal

I have mixed feelings about the publication. My biggest complaint is the poor reproductions. As an example look at page 61 of the '06 summer issue. The photo by Jeremy Moore is very poorly...

Re: What is a "Satin Snow" screen?

My f/8 90 mm S.A. can be very difficult to view and focus with in dim light. That's what the fellow is describing.

Re: Dry lake Bed near LA?

The L.A. Water Authority is no longer draining Mono Lake (and hasn't been for awhile). The water level is rising there. They have to raise the lake level to what it was back in the 1950's if I am...

Re: Why is Zone V 50% gray?

I'm curious to know what kind of instrument you use to measure your monitor values. Notice that I didn't say reflectance since reflectance values of a monitor make no sense.

Re: The hopeful future of film photography

Probably not since production of film products depends on products that are licensed from other sources. IOW, when Kodak stops making a film it won't reappear somewhere else.

Re: Amidol for AZO: PF vs Artcraft

The reason that it is prefered is it's ability to be combined with a second water bath to allow fine tuning of a print. At least that's been my experience.
  19. Re: LET'S USE SOME FILM! - How about a National Get Out and Shoot Day?

How about if we all just fog a few sheets of film? That would be so much quicker and easier and wouldn't require any processing.
