Ha, awesome, I hadn't heard the Johnny Carson story. I've been stopping by Amboy ever since my family camped near the crater in 1978.

It's been ages since I've taken the Crown Graphic out. Been focused on our coffee (which is being served at Demitasse in Little Tokyo this month) too much and haven't had much time to shoot. But we...
Yes, just recently. I haven't posted in months due to other hobbies/home business stuff but for some of the images on that roadtrip I definitely wanted to go with the lots of sky. I don't care for...
A couple more from Hwy 43 in central California. Handheld because we were late driving to Sacramento from LA for a graduation party. Crown Graphic, Schneider Kreuznach-Xenar 135mm, Provia 100,...
Oooh, I like this one better, I like the composition on this one along with the additional emphasis on the reflections!

When I use photoflo I get the jelly layers and end up with a gray base. It's been so long since I've used sodium sulfite I can't remember what it looked like.
I've been consumed with roasting coffee for the last 6 months so haven't taken my Crown Graphic out in that period. Took it to Sacramento last weekend and drove the 43 on the way up north. Here's a...
Actually I love that effect. I don't think the processing time would be a factor but I haven't used Type 55 or 51 that's that old. I rate my Type 55 at 100 and process for 45 seconds.
Could be...
Not I. And ignoring the Negafix part of the workflow with SE I've never been able to capture the full range while scanning as a negative with SilverFast SE. That's even with B&W. After talking...

Yes, thank you Robert, I ended up buying a license the night before last. I've given up trying to scan with Silverfast SE as a negative. Still working on my color fine tuning but scanning as an HDR...
Ah, thank you for the samples. I'll have to work on an image that has a lot of sky along with a good gamut of other colors.
I did a lot better with ColorNeg this time. I'm absolutely getting...
I took a break from scanning negatives because I bought a coffee roaster which I've been tinkering with ever since my last post is in this thread. But I picked up another roll of developed Ektar 100...
I don't think so but the depth of field is considerable. If your default film holder is in the sweet spot of that DOF then it's going to be hard to see a difference while adjusting the feet.
...
Yep, understood. I'll play around and post to the flickr forum next.
Man, I did a quick test this morning with the defaults for Ektar and all the clouds were blown out and there was a heavy magenta cast to the final image. This is with Silverfast 48 bit HDR scanned...
Ok, so I bought some Ektar in 120 to try out in my new old Fuji GA645i before I buy any in 4x5.
Attached are the sample lo-res scans from my lab and from my Epson V700 using Silverfast SE and the...
That's an awesome image for a lith print.

Awesome, thanks for the comparison. What were your details on development?
Thanks for all the info in this thread. I, too, have a 2509N reel and a 2521 tank that I have not used yet.
I have seen some references to using it for continuous inversion with less than the 1.5...
Awesome article Jim, congrats!
I still haven't found my post but I do remember the guy developing as Panatomic X. Please let us know how it goes, I still haven't shot my Type 55 where the pods have dried.
Damn, I use their holders for 120 but have been holding off on the big holder for budget reasons. After looking at these results I think I need to reconsider.
I asked this same question on a forum that I can't remember now. Anyway, you develop just a regular negative. Dev, stop, fix, no need to clear the negative since you're using regular methods. ...
Impossible Project is definitely milking the market with their sell everything they produce no matter how bad it performs attitude. To their credit they do put well written disclaimers on their...
I still haven't started developing my own 4x5 but I do have the 2509N reels. Are they the ones you tested with?
Thanks for tech info. I'm just a beginner, especially with LF, so I'd be very interested in seeing get these types of shots set up. I'm at Spring and 7th at least for a couple more months. See my...
Wow, that came out perfect. Did you do many tests of this? The exposure is excellent.
Is your studio around 5th and Los Angeles?
I should get over my laziness and start using my neg films. Color correction when scanning has been my biggest barrier to switching to negative film. I'll save a lot of money switching to negative...
Wow, these are beautiful!
