The scanning area for transmission is approx. 3" wide by 12", the length of the glass . In order to do 4x5 scanning one must scan 1/2 plus of a 4x5 neg and then turn it around and scan the other...

Actually for 4x5 film I use 1 1/2 qt pyrex glass bread pans. The beauty of this is that the sheets of film won't quite settle on the bottom and you can easily get your fingers underneath to shuffle...
