    Re: odd lens mount

Could be projection TV or copy machine lens?
Show us the name engraving on the front.
The front and rear cells may or may not unscrew from that "Barrel", if they do unscrew, you might get lucky...

Re: red dot Artar info retaining Ring etc..

Artars of different ages will be different sizes, my 24" is later than yours, an aluminum barrel one, and my compound IV flange (also with a 240 Heliar in it) is way too big.

Re: Gatorboard "Ultra" for Camera Builds?

A fixed focus box could be a thing, maybe not the longest lived object, but could be a lot of fun for at least a few outings. (I used to do a lot of pinhole in a variety of sizes in both plywood and...
  4. Re: DIY Right Angle Mirror-Box for ULF Closeups?

We used to do this a lot in the Polaroid 20x24 Studio, using a front surface mirror at 45 deg to the lens to look straight down. It works great, keeping in mind any type in the image will be...

    Re: Aero Ektar 343mm / 13.5" / F3.5 Info

IIRC, the lens cells together weigh 10lbs and the shutter weighs 8lbs. When I make a new aluminum barrel I'm sure it will weight less and be less bulky(which is the real goal).
  6. Re: Recommendations for LED array to replace Aristo Cold Light Head

In 2018 I bought what may have been the last two tubes (1 blue 1 green) for the Aristo 8x10 VC head.... I have not gotten around to installing them in my hand-me-down Aristo head.

A client of mine bought some new packs and heads during 2023, so, I think they're still going.
  8. Re: Korona 11X14 Front Rail Replacement Ideas

Mcmaster has gear rack in acetal plastic for a fraction of the steel or brass prices. (you DO need to correctly identify the pitch and pressure angle though)

    Re: What are these:

Could be a "Junior" sized plug which IIRC is 1 1/8". Many heavy duty light stands and grip equipment use that size where the stand has a socket and the device has a pin.

    Re: Aero Ektar 343mm / 13.5" / F3.5 Info

Fairchild made the shutters, so B&L and Kodak would have had to make all their lens cells to fit. My 12" f/2.5 is in a "Night Photo Shutter" which does not have an adjustable aperture, it is always...

    Re: Aero Ektar 343mm / 13.5" / F3.5 Info

The threads of the 12" and 24" Aero-Ektars are the same. (I still haven't freed the front cell of the 24" Extar to measure spacing)

I'm only mounting it on a lensboard for the 16x20 camera I'm building for him. He'll be shooting wetplate, portraits.

zbima1 on Ebay makes good boards, very reasonably priced. Might be happy to take on a new size if he's not already making it.

    Re: Aero Ektar 343mm / 13.5" / F3.5 Info

I have a customers 24" Aero Ektar here and will check the barrel length if I can to see if they are the same. At the moment, the front cell is resisting removal.

    Re: Aero Ektar 343mm / 13.5" / F3.5 Info

I just took a quick measurement of the shutter of my 12" f/2.5 Aero Ektar. It's a tough measurement to make, so, I am probably off by a few thou', but I got 3.867"

    Re: 4x5 camera identification

Don't think so, there are tilts on both standards, though the lock locations are unusual. I second the thought that it could be an Ebony brand product.

    Re: Platinum/Palladium prints...varnished

Yep, +1 on the historical precedent of beeswax with a very small amount of lavender oil, you want to wax the prints not oil them. It gives a little sheen and deepens the look of the Dmax.

    Re: Unscrewing super-old lens cells

  23. Re: How to fit these lenses to an Intrepid 810 (Sinar board)?

  25. Re: Disassembling Voigtlander Apo-Skopar process barrel lens

I've done this a couple times too, plywood clamp for the lens cell and plywood clamped down to the bridgeport, strap wrench on the barrel. Works !
  26. Re: Disassembling Voigtlander Apo-Skopar process barrel lens

Looks like the front cell shoulld unscrew like most lenses do, assuming there are no set screws holding it in place. Opposing strap wrenches work great, but sometimes you need to get some penetrating...

I'm assuming you're talking about a 4x5 Super D. Either lens would probably fit fine on a 3.25"x4.25".

Oh cool. I have the 10.5" with the NON soft focus (unmarked) rear cell, also in a semi-working older black Ilex Universal #5. I need to mount it on my V8 and see what it does.
