Hello,
After long and unproductive search of information for geometrical way of constructing a tapered bellows with square corners we decided that we'll try to make it according to the information...
The construction is completely different.
Steven, this is the most widely used type of bellows folding in the past.
The Deardorff's bellows is made in this way. If the bellows is fold in this way, it should be possible to be drawn? Yes?...
The square corners bellows construction makes possible to use different ribs width and by using narrower bellows ribs in the end of the bellows, near the film standard, the camera could be...
Len, J.B. pdf is for bellows with oblique corners. I need information for bellows with square corners.
We're not trying to replicate an old bellows. We'd like to build a new bellows for our next camera. In some ways it is more convenient then a bellows with oblique corners.
Its construction, though,...
Vunny, I have not, but i plan to do it very soon. Will be happy to share it with you.
Len, The first. Bellows similar to the Deardorff's V8 bellows.
Hi, I'm trying to find a geometrical way for construction of a conical bellows with square corners, but for now without success. Please help!

We'll see. I'm in the middle of building second proto, this time 10x12, strictly wet plate oriented, together with holder. I'd like to think that I'll finish it till the middle of September, and then...
Daniel, yes it is in the front of the base, but it is easily reachable by me, (I'm 1.7m high) even at full rear extension. You have a point though! That's why the prototypes are for! ;)
Thanks!...
Thank you!
Hi, You can see our latest build and find its specifications on our new blog wetplategear.com. I'll be happy to answer to all questions you may have!

Ha fellows, can someone please, point me to information regarding the 10x12 holder dimensions? I can take the T-distance and the rib-lock distance from Alan Brubaker's site, but I can't find the...
If it is light it is soft. Soft is not good for camera. There are a lot of things to consider when you are choosing a wood for a camera. The most important its dimensional stability in time. Is it...
I updated the blog with camera specifications and images of the finished product.

The lens-board is 10" square
The bellows fabric is what I've found locally. This time the bellows came out a bit heavier then I'd like . . .
Thank you very much Colin. I prize highly your opinion! You're one of those from which I have learned the most about camera making. We made all the woodwork, the bellows, and most of the metal...
Hi all, We almost finished a new 12 x 12 for a gentlemen in France. You can see all the snaps on my blog. Tomorrow I'll add pictures of the completely finished camera and its specification. I hope...
Евала пич!
Hi, We just finished a new 12x12 wet plate camera for the dutch photographer Michiel Maessen. It is made out of basswood, somehow soft, but very stable and light wood. It has 108cm of bellows draw,...
Thank you all for the kind words! The outer fabric layer is combination of cotton and some artifitial material. The inner is artifitial only. My bellows making technic is combination of all...
I just wanted to share with you all my joy of finishing my first bellows yesterday. It is for the 12x12 wet-plate camera I'm finishing right now. It is made out of two layers of fabric found in the...

Hi, I'm sorry I haven't been able to answer more quickly. The bellows where made by Custom Bellows in UK. It took about six mounts to make the plans and build the cameras. All the metal hardware was...
Hi all,
I would like to show you some pictures of the new 20 x 20 wet plate camera we, my father and I, have built. They are actually two, but, for now, only one is complete. It is a monster. It...
I had one from the first batch and sold it after only few field trips. Why?
I found it to be a big dust attractor. The synthetic bellows, the carbon plate and the thick lacquering of the wooden...
Korona Home Portrait most probably.
As far as I know, the direct selenium toner like KRST or T55 could be combined with HCA and used before washing. I never had any issues with T55, which I make myself. Toner which are susceptible to...
