I use a 60mm componon mounted backwards on an old shutter for 4 x 5 macro. It works very well, see http://www.webstar.nl/~job/rosepage.html
I forgot to mention. Although the camera is light enough, carrying the 10 film holders I have is more inconveniant than the camera itself.
A couple of years ago I built my own 4 x 5 point & shoot camera. You can see it here: http://job.webstar.nl/newcampg.html I didn't work to any plans so it is no use asking me for them. It works...
Other problems with photographing close ups in large format are calculating the exposure factor caused by the necesary bellows extension and a solid tripod because of long exposure times. On my...
try this link http://home.online.no/~gjon/jgcam.htm
I came up with a cheap, alternative focussing system other than a rack & pinion or helix, for a 4x5 point & shoot camera. I have a rough description of it at http://job.webstar.nl/cam3pg.html
Hi folks, I'm a european spending 10 days in Boston (USA). Anyone know of any se cond hand camera shops in Boston worth checking out ? Thanks in advance.
Here is my web publication on building a hand held camera. http://job.webstar.nl/newcampg.html There are no drawings available because when I built it I just used "pre-visualisation". Or...
My 6x9 Graflex Century Graphic folds up nicely with a 100mm Apo- Symmar with a lens cap on, after I made the shutter tensioning lever knob half of its original thickness.
On my Graflex Century 6x9, I use a 60mm Componon enlarging lens reverse mounted on an old Century shutter. At full extension, about 240mm., I get about 3x magnification. It is very sharp.
Or rather more accurately here.......http://job.webstar.nl/cam3pg.html
Here is a home made alternative to focussing without a bellows or rail.....http://job.webstar.nl/newcampg.html
Using a 150mm lens on my Tachihara,, I have the back standard slid forward to its full extent with the front standard at the forward end of the focus rail. Focussing is now easier for infinity and...
I've got the Polaroid clearing tank and it's just a bucket with a watertight lid. The film rack drifts around inside. You are better off with the CombiPlan tank in my opinion, it is far more...
I have the RH8 for the Graphic Century and it has knob wind but also two big rollers (a good 16mm diameter) at each end of the film backing plate, it also has small pin rollers at the edge of the...
I am happy with my Tachihara, for the money it hits the spot. I understand that it is newer models with sliding back possibilities and they use nylon washers. I know my Tachihara was made in Japan.
Why doesn't the URL show up ? http://job.webstar.nl/focuspg.html If it doesn't work this time, just check the pic, Cam3, the link is there.
What is this ? The millennium bug ? <http://job.webstar.nl/focuspg.html> or is this something to do with Microsoft Explorer ?
Whoops, that went wrong ! The new page is at <http://job.webstar.nl/focuspg.html>
By saying 'scale focussing", I did mean as Patrick said. I've added a page with a schematic drawing of the inner workings at <http://job.webstar.nl/focuspg.html> Thanx for the commentarys.
Hi folks, I've just completed building a homemade 4x5, point and shoot, focussing camera. I am particularly pleased with my alternative focussing system and wonder how alternative it really is. The...
I do not use clips at all when drying my 4 x 5 negs, instead I have a couple of stainless steel, sheet film developing racks. The wire sides and bottom are crinkled and one can spring up to a dozen...
Does anyone know the merits of front panel focussing compared to old cameras wit h back panel focussing? Are there any inherent disadvantages to back panel focus sing apart from conveniance in...
No, don't do it! Everything you can capture on 6x7 or 6x9 you can capture on 4x5 and more. The only reason to use rollfilm on a 4x5 format camera is the cost of the film and the cost of losing...
