Bob : All Apo-Ronars are not CL-versions. I have both, 9/360 and 9/360 CL. Older is heavy 834 grams, minimum aperture is 260. Newer CL is lighter 541 grams and the minimum aperture is "only" 90....

    Re: sharpest lense ever

I read, that there was question about sharpest lences. My 3 CZ:s are such ones. My best lences for general purpose are Super Symmar HM:s, for close up-working they are G-Clarons and Apo-Ronars. For...

    Re: sharpest lense ever

Have never tried Red Dot Artars or Planars, but CZ Biogon 4,5/75 and CZ S-Planar 5,6/120 are not bad. I like Topogon 11/60 too. Have heard, that they reach up to 150 lp/mm and more. Normally the film...

Re: Best lens over 240mm for landscapes in 4x5...

Best lens depends on the theme. My Apo-Ronars has minimum apertures 180 and 260. That means huge depth of field. They donīt need any shutters cause of long times. The barrels are cheap, from 30€....

    Re: These old brass lenses

I use my Hermagis Portrait with portraits. It makes "Hollywood-soft" and has mild contrast. Bokeh in the corners is huge. For landscaping I use my Rodenstock Bistigmats. They are good enough from...

The light version with my Arca-Swiss is Angulon 6,8/90 and the heavier Super-Symmar HM 5,6/120, sometimes Symmar 5,6/100. Each has their character: "mild", very sharp, usual...

    Re: Uncoated plasmats

Here is the Orthometar 4,5/25cm. Seems to be uncoated. I think this is made year 1941. This thread is the only including the word "Orthometar". Who can tell more about this rare optic? Picture...
  11. Re: Architectural photography. Large format vs digital

I use both. When I need big resolution and shift, I use the 5Dmk2 as the databack with my Sinar P. The lences are CZ Biogon 75 or Super Symmar MH 150. I have the Topogon 60 too, but the barrel is...
  12. Re: Zeiss Orthoplanar 60mm Enlarging Lens - Which Enlarger?

The S-Biogon is not originally for the enlarger. Itīs allways 5,6 with no aperture blades. It is sitting very deep in the lens board. You can press the filmholder with the back lens. The distange is...
  13. Re: Zeiss Orthoplanar 60mm Enlarging Lens - Which Enlarger?

I use S-Biogon 40 with the Beseler 45 MXT. Easy to adapt, but no so easy to use.
