this is the rear cell of a symmar 240mm convertible lens. It has concentric circles in the front elements of the rear cell set. They look like scratches, but are too perfectly circular and even.

  3. Re: Have any of you downgraded from 8x10 to 4x5? Why?

I can't afford 8x10 film on a regular basis. that said, I did just buy an 8x10 studio camera. For me, there is a huge difference in looking at an 8x10 ground glass vs. a 4x5. Magic. 4x5 seems small...
  4. Re: Is fiber paper worth the additional cost for selling prints compared to rc paper?

I see it as silver coated in plastic vs. silver layered on clay and cotton.

Re: Quick Release for Gitzo G1570M

It is my opinion that if a camera is heavy enough to need to sit on a gitzo g1570, a quick release will introduce issues. I hold my 8x10 deardorff vertically after tilting my gitzo g1370 platform...
  17. Re: Holders for and Handling of Infrared film - Newbie Questions

  18. Re: Holders for and Handling of Infrared film - Newbie Questions

  20. Re: Deardorff 8x10 back alternatives - which other brand's backs fit as well?

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the camera you bought is not an 8x10 camera. It is a 5x7 camera and has a 5x7 to 4x5 reducing back on it in the photos.

    Re: Film Price Increases

I'm poor and the cost of shooting 8x10 is prohibitive. I don't make money shooting film, so the 8x10 gear may have to go.

I'm feeling that 4-5$ per sheet is my limit for 8x10 film
