  1. Re: Best monitor for photo editing and viewing - suggestions wanted

As already mentioned, it must be an IPS monitor.

Check this straightforward article and you'll be good.

Re: scanning 8x10" film by Epson V700 scanner

Another thing for all posting here . . .

First, Linhof's problem, I think, is only a perceived one. The only thing different between the 800 dpi scan he was happy with, and 1200 dpi scan that he...

Re: scanning 8x10" film by Epson V700 scanner

An image will appear sharper the closer you scan it to it's actual size. So, to simply view it on your monitor you would, presumably, scan it at 96 dpi, which is probably your screen resolution....

    Good catch, Larry.

Ramiro, you already have some very good clues here, so I'll just add:

I dug out some old negs to scan on my V700 last week and really struggled. Until last week, I had...

Well, I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. I don't have the printer you speak of, but am thinking that this may well be a driver related issue as opposed to a hardware one. Are your drivers up to...

Well, since you say "unbiased", neither. I could answer the question if you say "less biased", however. But then we've not gotten our ivory tower just yet either.

    Paul and Rick,

You both make good points, and one's that I agree with. My wording was very general, trying to get Sal to see something (though I think he already knows).

No, Sal. I got that. I know what you mean when you say "ivory tower." But, inherent in that, is the ideal. If, for example, a perfect scenario were possible apart from government, then why would you...

    Worst Prints Ever! Any ideas???

I just printed my first print with Epson's Ultra Premium Presentation Matte paper, and I must say, it wasn't even close to what I had on my monitor. In fact, it wasn't even close to being close.
